Abstract: The Web Part authoring framework provides the a graphical user interface for connecting Web Parts, mechanisms for determining the compatibility between Web Parts, and the means to persist the connection between Web Parts. The framework builds the user interface for selecting the source and target parts based on a series of compatibility rules. A user can access a menu to specify the type of connection between a compatible source and target part. If the Web Parts implement different connection interface types, a transformer is generated to make the Web Parts compatible. The target and source Web Parts can reside on the same or different pages. Additionally, the target and source Web Parts can be created by different developers. After the end user defines the connection, the framework forms the connection between the Web Parts so the parts can share information.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control system for controlling an average temperature of a coolant at a reactor core outlet. The control system method detects an average temperature of the coolant at the reactor core outlet, compares the actual average temperature of the coolant at the reactor core outlet with a reference temperature thereby to generate an error signal, and adjusts the actual average temperature of the coolant at the reactor core outlet in response to the error signal. The invention extends to a cascade controller for a nuclear reactor, and to a nuclear power plant.

Abstract: In situ treatment of contaminated groundwater includes identifying a site contaminated with a pollutant susceptible to degradation by in situ, sulfate-reducing microorganisms. An amount of sulfate needed to support metabolization of the contaminants is estimated. The estimated amount of sulfate is applied to the site. In various alternatives of embodiments of the invention, the sulfate may be applied is a dry state or as a solution with water. The sulfate concentration in solution is in excess of 1000 ppm and may be as high as a near-saturation concentration.
Abstract: A cryocooler cold end assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a unitary external, outer housing. By constructing the housing from a single unitary metal shell, part count is reduced from prior art assemblies. Additionally, all brazing requirements previously necessary to secure and seal the components are eliminated. Further, due to one or more machining steps subsequent to manufacturing/forming the external sealed housing, the tolerances are improved. This allows for shrink to fit assembly of several components and also results in improved straight-line accuracy between the piston bore and the displacer cylinder. Due to this latter improvement, the need for a displacer liner is eliminated.
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a lesion in cardiac tissue includes an optical fiber for guiding a coherent waveform of a selected wavelength to a fiber tip. The wavelength is selected to have a low absorption in water. The fiber tip is contained within a guide member having a discharge bore for a direction of energy discharge to define an unobstructed light pathway from the fiber tip through a discharge end of the discharge bore. A fluid pathway is in fluid flow communication with the guide member to admit a bio-compatible flushing fluid to the discharge bore.

Abstract: A composition in the form of a biodegradable gel, chip or ointment is provided, for adjunct treatment of periodontitis, comprising: (i) an antimicrobial extract having antimicrobial or antibacterial activity against periodontal pathogens, preferably from one or more of the plants Andrographis paniculata, mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) and turmeric (Curcuma longa); and (ii) a gel base containing a mixture of glyceryl monooleate and triglyceride. The composition is biodegradable, and forms a liquid crystal structure on contacting gingival fluid, which liquid crystal structure releases active ingredients gradually, to provide a sustained release dosage form.
Abstract: A method of, and system for, binary signalling via quantum non-locality. The method and system are particularly suitable for rapid communication including superluminal signalling. The method and system use an ensemble of quantum-systems in which the quantum-systems are in pairs, with one quantum-system of each pair being in quantum entanglement with the other quantum-system of each pair. The quantum-systems may comprise particles or parts of particles. The paired quantum-systems are separated into two subgroups, with the quantum-systems of each pair being in different subgroups. The quantum-systems in one subgroup are subjected to an influence, such as a slit, to enhance scattering of the quantum-systems to an extent corresponding to the selected binary signal to be transmitted. The extent of correlated scattering in the quantum-systems in the other subgroup is then detected, the extent of scattering providing an indication of the particular binary signal transmitted.
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a publication-subscription broker server computing system for filtering one or more messages for transmission to a subscriber computing system according to an individual information request criteria using binary decision diagrams. The computer program product contains instructions that implement the disclosed method. The publication-subscription broker server contains a computer process that implements the disclosed method.
Abstract: Provided herein is a method and apparatus for selective deep catalytic cracking of petroleum naphthas or other hydrocarbon feedstocks. The feed comprising the hydrocarbons to be cracked and steam, in well-defined proportions, is first sent into a precatalytic zone (Zone I) of a cracking reactor, preferably a tubular reactor. In a preferred embodiment, Zone I, contains beads of some catalytically mildly active porous material such as quartz or quartz doped with Cr—Al, is set at a temperature T1. The gas steam flows then through a catalyst bed, called Zone II, where the catalytic reaction takes place. Zone II is set at temperature T2 and contains a zeolite type catalyst, preferably ZSM5 zeolite or, most preferably, a hybrid zeolite catalyst.
Abstract: A binary theme file format provides optimized access to retrieve graphical component theme property data. The binary format includes data structures storing a set of defined visual characteristics for graphical component classes, parts, and states. The data structure includes a hierarchy of theme data. A theme manager quickly retrieves theme property data by indexing into the binary file with a unique theme handle. The theme manager accesses state, part, class, and global property sections to retrieve theme data. Jump tables and jump-to-parent references allow for quickly traversing property data sections. Packed data sections have packed objects having the necessary property data for frequently used graphical components. A custom image region data section provides border data for nontransparent image borders. A sampled colors section facilitates rendering of images with solid sections. The binary file format can be constructed using a text theme file and is loaded into shared process memory.

Abstract: A refrigerant gas is collected and a compressor is removed from a discarded refrigerator, a heat-insulating housing including a heat insulator is cut/processed and separated into a plurality of pieces, and the pieces are compressed/processed by compression rollers opposing each other so as to collect a gas contained in the heat insulator. In accordance with this method, substantially no gas contained in the heat insulator is diffused at the time of cutting the heat-insulating housing, and the gas can be collected at a high concentration because it is collected by being allowed to leak out at the time of compressing. Furthermore, by using the compression rollers, closed-cells in the heat insulator can be crushed easily, thereby collecting the gas completely and reliably. Thus, it is possible to collect a foaming gas contained in the heat insulator efficiently and disassemble a refrigerator at low cost without increasing the size of equipment and an installation space.
