  • Patent number: 5914027
Abstract: A method for thermo-mechanical cracking and hydrogenation of chemical substances such as hydrocarbons in liquid or solid form, waxes, carbonates, lime, oil-shale, oil-sand, oily residue from refineries and crude tank bottoms, plast and the like. The cracking and the hydrogenating of the substances in the presence of hydrogen releasing chemicals as water is performed in a mechanical established fluidized bed (8) of fine grained solids where the mechanical action in the fluidized bed (8) generates the heat participating in the cracking in addition to the mechanical action to the substances whereby the cracking in the cavitating micro bubbles and the hydrogenation takes place in the reactor (1) with an overall temperature and pressure lower than by conventional cracking and/or hydrogenation processes.

  • Patent number: 5911516
Abstract: The bidet housing of a bidet attachment includes a base plate for mounting on the upper horizontal rim surface of a toilet bowl, and a top cover mounted on the base plate. The bidet housing confines an opening for access into the toilet bowl. A heating element inside the bidet housing extends around a major part of the opening. A flexible water tube is sheathed on the heating element, and confines a water passage therewith. A water supply valve supplies water to the water passage. Water from the water passage is supplied to a nozzle assembly that is movable between retracted and extended positions. The heating element can be actuated for warming up the bidet housing and for heating water that flows through the water passage from the water supply valve and that flows out of the nozzle assembly.

  • Patent number: 5911752
Abstract: A method for implanting a stent within a body passageway defined by a body wall. The method includes the step of fabricating the stent in an initial orientation in which the stent has an initial diameter and an initial length. The method also includes the step of collapsing the stent radially inward from the initial orientation to a collapsed orientation in which the stent has a collapsed length and a collapsed diameter. The stent is collapsed by deforming a portion of the stent beyond the elastic limit of the portion of the stent. The method further includes the step of positioning the collapsed stent at a desired location within the body passageway. Additionally, the method includes the step of expanding the stent radially outward from the collapsed orientation to a deployed orientation in which the stent has a deployed diameter and a deployed length. The deployed diameter and the deployed length are respectively substantially equal to the initial diameter and the initial length.

  • Patent number: 5913129
Abstract: A method of fabricating a capacitor structure for a dynamic random access memory. This method comprises the following steps: a transistor is provided on a semiconductor substrate, and spacers are formed over the sidewalls of a gate electrode of the transistor. A first oxide layer is formed over the transistor. A bit line is deposited to contact with the source region of the transistor. Thereafter, a second oxide layer is formed over the bit line. A contact opening is formed exposing the drain region. Then the hemispherical grained silicon layer is formed into the contact opening. A polysilicon layer is formed over the hemispherical grained silicon layer. Therefore both the hemispherical grained silicon layer and the third polysilicon layer have rough surfaces. Subsequent conventional processes for the complete formation of capacitor structure are performed. It is therefore the capacitor maintains a required capacitance while reducing the horizontal dimensions of the storage capacitor.

  • Patent number: 5912539
Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus includes a judgment unit which passes a judgment that a condition, in which an offset signal indicative of the offset between a target current signal and a motor current signal, or a drive control signal used for controlling an electric motor is greater than a threshold, has continued for an allowable time. Based on this judgment, a forced drive control unit forcibly drives the electric motor. A fault judgment unit monitors the motor current in all times and judges a current detecting unit to be at fault if the motor current does not vary even though the electric motor is drive forcibly. Thus, even when a failure in the current detecting unit occurs during movement of a motor vehicle, such failure can reliably be detected. Additionally, since the judgment is performed after the electric motor is driven forcibly, misjudgment does not occur even when the judgement at the judgment unit results from continuous application of abrupt manual steering operation.

  • Patent number: 5912909
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for an improved implementation for calculating a checksum. The present invention includes a plurality of addition circuits forming at least a first and a final addition stage. The addition circuits receive a data bit stream and perform addition on data bit pairs emanating from the data bit stream to obtain a checksum value. Carry bits generated by the addition circuits are propagated as additional upper data bits until the final addition stage wherein the carry bits are added to lower bits to obtain a final checksum value. The data bit stream may be a sixty-four bit data stream such that the data bit pairs are four sixteen bit pairs. The final stage accepts a limited carry value input to guarantee that a final carry bit is not generated at the final addition stage. Thus, the checksum circuit propagates the carry bits from each addition down the pipeline wherein the carry bits can be added at the end rather than at each addition stage.

  • Patent number: 5911289
Abstract: An apparatus (38) is disclosed for controlling the level of oil in one or more compressors (10) of a refrigeration system. The compressors (10) are supplied with oil from a reservoir (28) which is in fluid communication via a common conduit (32) and second conduit (98) with the oil sump (not shown) of each compressor (10). The apparatus (38) includes a housing composed of a main body portion and a spacer block. The body portion is provided with a chamber which houses a float. The chamber is in fluid communication with the oil sump of its respective compressor (10). As the oil level within the compressor (10) varies, the angle of pivot of float also varies. This variation is sensed by a sensor which produces a signal indicative of the level of the oil. When the signal is indicative that the level of oil within the compressor is below a first predetermined minimum level, solenoid valve (78) is opened and solenoid valve (82) closed.

  • Patent number: 5913116
Abstract: In semiconductor device fabrication process, an active region of a semiconductor device is formed by diffusing a dopant out of a sidewall spacer. In the fabrication process, a gate electrode having a sidewall adjacent an active region is formed on a substrate and a doped spacer layer having a dopant disposed therein is formed over the substrate and gate electrode. A portion of the spacer layer is then removed to form a spacer on the sidewall of the gate electrode. The dopant in the spacer is diffused into the substrate to form a lightly-doped region in the active region of the substrate. The lightly-doped region may form an LDD region of an LDD structure.
