Abstract: This invention provides a paint stripping composition comprising N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The composition does not include any halogenated hydrocarbons, acids, caustics or waxes and is not harmful to a wide variety of substrates.
Abstract: 2,3-Difluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is prepared by contacting a 2,3-dihalo-5-(trifluoromethyl) pyridine with an effective amount of KF or CsF in a polar aprotic solvent (diluent) at an elevated temperature under substantially anhydrous conditions with removal of the difluoropyridine products essentially as they are formed. The starting material may optionally be added as the reaction proceeds to minimize decomposition. The reaction is also optionally conducted in the presence of an acid scavenger and/or a crown ether or other phase-transfer catalyst.
Abstract: Symmetrical tetrachloropyridine is prepared by contacting chlorinated .beta.-(trichloromethyl)pyridines with chlorine in a liquid phase reaction in the presence of from 0.1 to 1.0 mole % of a catalyst.
Abstract: This invention provides a spray canister comprising an outer housing an an inner housing, each housing having a concave base, the base of said inner housing being adapted to mate with the base of said outer housing, said outer housing having first and second oppositely disposed openings, said first opening being adapted to receive said inner housing, said outer housing having a top portion fitted with spring means and sealing means, and having inlet means for applying air pressure to said inner housing and means adapted for operative connection with a spraying head for dispensing material from said inner housing, said inner housing being adapted to contain material to be sprayed and having a top portion adapted to sealingly contact the sealing means of said outer housing when said inner housing is inserted in said outer housing.
Abstract: An air driven hydraulic system for spraying liquids comprising a double acting cylinder having a central piston with an oil supply on one side of said piston and air on the other side of said piston and means of alternately controlling the supply of air and oil to the cylinder.
Abstract: This invention provides an artificial doll eye with a realistic pupil opening allowing light to travel into the eye thrugh the lens some distance into a solid, transparent light shaft in the center of the lens and pupil giving the impression of a real human eye. An iris is simulated by a combination of a thin wafer having a colored surface, and an optical magnifying effect created by the texturing of the plastic in front of the colored wafer.
Abstract: Novel aniline compounds that are useful in preparing N-aroyl N'-phenyl ureas having alkyl substituents in the 2-, 3-, 5- and 6-positions and haloalkoxy in the 4-position of the N'-phenyl which are more active and have a broader spectrum of effectiveness than the known benzoylurea insecticides.

Abstract: This invention provides a method and device for restoring the patency of feeding tubes by removal of feedings that are blocking the lumen of the tubes. The device provides a means of contacting the occlusions with solubilizing agents and employs fluid erosion techniques and mechanical force and provides for the restoration of the therapeutic plan without the major complications and cost of replacing tubes already in place.
Abstract: Certain novel fluorophenoxy compounds, principally aryloxyfluorophenoxyalkanoic acids and derivatives thereof, are described. More specifically, these novel compounds bear 1 to 4 fluorine substituents on the phenyl ring. These novel compounds exhibit surprising preemergent and postermergent activity when used according to the method of the invention in the control of grassy weeds.
