Abstract: A headstone planter that has four walls and a concave bottom for securing plants and flowers atop a headstone. The four walls and concave bottom form a notched base that allows the planter to securely rest atop a variety of differently shaped headstones. The notched base accommodates round or flat headstones having either smooth or rough cut surfaces. The planter has drain openings in the bottom and rounded top edges.
Abstract: A communications port adapter and method for using a communications port of a host computer in polling mode and without interrupts. The communications port adapter includes at least a converter circuit for converting an input signal from a measuring device to frequency, a switching component connected to an output of the converter circuit for transmitting a frequency output signal, and a counter circuit having an input connected to the switching component for receiving the frequency output signal of the converter circuit and an ouput coupled to the communications port of the host computer.
Abstract: A system for preventing boiler low-water failures, caused by obstruction of the working components of low-water cutoff system, which includes a flushing unit attachment. The flushing unit attaches to the boiler low-water cutoff system in place of a manual blowdown unit. The boiler water make-up line is rerouted through the flushing unit, which is in fluid connection with the low-water cutoff system. When the low-water cutoff system detects a low-water level in the boiler it signals the water make-up line to add make-up water to the boiler. The make-up water is routed through the flushing unit, thereby creating a transverse flow of water in the flushing unit. The transverse flow created by the make-up water flushes rust, scale and other debris from the low-water cutoff system and out of the flushing unit. A discharge water line carries the rust, scale and other debris into the boiler.

Abstract: An adaptive undergarment is provided for persons with specialized urological needs. The adaptive undergarment provides an elongate pocket for storing specialized urological articles. The elongate pocket is located preferably in a parallel spaced relationship with the waistband of the user's undergarment. The adaptive undergarment may have an additional pocket elsewhere on the undergarment for storing items such as antibacterial wipes. Each pocket is open at one edge to receive and provide access to the stored items. Any type of undergarment conforming to any user's specialized urological needs is adaptable into this adaptive undergarment.
Abstract: An apparatus and process for inspecting print material having a reference template generator circuit, a defect detector circuit for comparing a target image to a reference image and a defect rejecter circuit for determining the acceptability of the target image. The reference template generator circuit is made up of a pixel intensity range circuit, a pixel classifier circuit and a reference address circuit. Each pixel data of the target image is compared, according to the pixel classification of the pixel data, to each pixel data of the reference image. The flaw severity code is generated from the reference pixel comparison, which is then weighted and accumulated for the image area. The weighted sum of the occurrences of the flaw severity codes is compared with the user specified threshold for determining the acceptability of the test sample. Each entry of the look-up table contains a corresponding flaw severity code.
Abstract: A combustion cage for pellet fuel is an inclined container having at least one wall surrounding a bottom and a support structure. The surrounding wall and bottom of the container have a plurality of holes throughout imparting a hole-to-surface ratio of at least 40% to the wall and bottom. The support structure supports the inclined container in a fixed, inclined position with reference to the horizontal.
Abstract: Joints or other discontinuities in live gas pipelines are sealed by spraying the joint or discontinuity with a coating material by means of an explosion-proof coating device, capable of traversing long lengths of pipe. The coating device is inserted into the pipe and uses a halogen lit explosion-proof camera for locating joints or other discontinuities in the pipe. The preferred coating material is a high build epoxy-type elastomeric polyurethane, which quickly cures in the presence of pressurized flowing gas. Several joints or discontinuities, spanning several hundred feet of pipe, may be coated using a single excavation.
Abstract: An apparatus for quietly limiting motion at a limb joint having pivotally attached members for receiving the limbs of a joint and a dual-adjustable stop mechanism assembly attached to the members for restricting movement at the joint. The dual-adjustable stop mechanism assembly includes at least one bumper and a setscrew for adjusting the position of the bumper.
Abstract: A static mixer for mixing substances under either laminar flow or turbulent flow conditions, or for mixing substances having a combination of laminar and turbulent flow conditions. The static mixer includes a first conduit operatively connected to a series of two or more mixing segments. The mixing segments include one or more splitting components for dividing the fluid stream into two or more flow streams, two or more flow branches wherein each of the flow branches receives one of the flow streams and wherein each of the flow branches operatively changes the cross-sectional shapes of their respective flow streams in preparation for layering and stacking the flow streams to each other, and a second conduit for receiving and stacking the two or more flow streams creating a layered unified fluid stream.

The method includes combining two or more initial fluidic substances into a combined fluid stream, dividing the combined fluid stream into two or more separate fluid streams, changing the shape of each of the two or more separate fluid streams in preparation for layering the two or more separate fluid streams together into a subsequent combined fluid stream such that each subsequent combined fluid stream has the same cross-sectional shape as the initial combined fluid stream and such that the cross-sectional area of the fluid stream is constant, and repeating the dividing, shaping and layering of the subsequent combined fluid stream at least one or more times.
Abstract: A cable tie flotation device for making a cable tie buoyant having a volume of resilient, easily deformable material having an opening therethrough and a fastening means. The deformable material has a specific gravity less than one and is of sufficient quantity to keep the cable tie afloat in a liquid medium. The fastening means includes an opposed resilient force created by the deformation of the opening the material by a cable tie passing therethrough such that the deformable material is maintained in connective relationship about the cable tie by the opposed force of the resilient deformable material as it attempts to return to its original shape.
