  • Patent number: 5618255
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a liner having baffles therein for use in flexible bulk containers, having the steps of: positioning a baffle strip of thermoplastic material adjacent to a continuous sheet of thermoplastic film; heat sealing the baffle strip to the continuous sheet of film at spaced apart intervals; alternately varying the length of continuous sheet film adjacent to the length of baffle strip material between adjacent heat seals to form pockets of excess continuous sheet film between alternating pairs of heat seals; cutting the continuous sheet to a length substantially equal in length to the circumference of the flexible bulk container and; folding the continuous film sheet in half with the attached baffle strip on the inside of the fold and with the fold extending perpendicular to the length of baffle strip; and heat sealing the ends opposite the fold to form a tubular shaped liner with the pockets of the excess film sheet forming corners therein.

  • Patent number: 5615762
Abstract: In a conveyor apparatus, bagged food products fall from a first inclined belt onto a second horizontal belt. As they fall, the bagged food products engage a bar and flip forwardly onto the second belt. The bar has a friction enhancing covering which aids in pivoting the bagged food product onto the second belt, resulting in a properly collated array of bagged food products.

  • Patent number: 5605022
Abstract: A vented closure for installation in a roofing system between the upper end of a roofing panel and a ridge cap. The vented closure is die-pressed into a cap flange for attachment to the ridge cap; a downwardly disposed closure wall connected to the cap flange; a bottom wall connected to the closure wall; an upwardly disposed inner sidewall connected to the bottom wall; and a vent opening located in the closure wall. Either a screen or a multiplicity of louvers covers the vent opening. The present invention closes the spaces in the ends of the roofing panel and conforms to the profile of the panel in such a way as to prevent entry of water, debris and vermin but permit the passage of air.

  • Patent number: 5601724
Abstract: A tower-like pressure vessel utilizes the injection of gas bubbles for aeration of liquids. A cylindrical conduit extends vertically in the interior of the vessel. The interior conduit has a first end connected to an inlet liquid flow conduit and a second end disposed immediately adjacent the top of the pressure vessel thereby forming a gap which serves as a flow restriction. An outlet for the vessel is located adjacent to the bottom of the vessel.A gas injector located outside the pressure vessel injects gas into the inlet liquid flow conduit thereby forming a plurality of small gas bubbles that adhere to the walls of a portion of the inlet conduit having a bend. The small bubbles amalgamate to form larger bubbles substantially consistent in size prior to being swept by the liquid stream through the flow restriction at the top of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5554931
Abstract: The portable live line tool tester of the present invention allows high voltage to be applied to discrete segments of a live-line tool. If the tool has become conductive due to damage or contamination, a leakage meter will detect the flow of current. The tool can then be tested in increments to locate the damaged section. The invention further includes electrical safely interlock circuitry so that the tester is rendered inoperable unless it is correctly rigged and safety shielding is in place. The tester can be folded into an easily portable unit, making it unnecessary to ship tools to a laboratory for testing.

  • Patent number: 5538053
Abstract: A vacuum fill system for deaerating flowable materials for storage in a receiving container comprising a hollow tubular container having a generally horizontal axis for receiving and holding flowable material. A vacuum pump or venturi and suitable valving are used to first create a vacuum within the chamber and then to return the chamber to atmospheric pressure instantaneously, thereby compacting the flowable material. An auger extends from the inlet end of the tubular container to the outlet end of the tubular container for moving flowable material into and compacted material out of the tubular container into a receiving container.

  • Patent number: 5526829
Abstract: A hair curling system wherein hair rollers are inserted over the wand of a curling iron, allowing the heating element of the curling iron to heat both the exterior surface of the curling iron and the hair rollers. Hollow cylindrical cover wands having graduated exterior diameters are inserted over the wand of the curling iron, allowing the heating element of the curling iron to heat the underlying curling wand and the cover wand simultaneously, so that larger looser curls may be formed with the larger diameter cover wand and smaller tighter curls formed with the smaller diameter underlying wand upon removal of the cover wand. The heating element of the hair curling system may be actuated by AC or DC current or be equipped for actuation by combustible gas contained within a disposal canister.

  • Patent number: 5509451
Abstract: A vacuum fill system for deaerating and compacting flowable materials within a container for transportation and storage of the materials includes a hollow chamber having an open bottom end for insertion of the chamber into the container. A rubber pad placed under the container seals the chamber for creation of a vacuum in the chamber through a vacuum line connecting the chamber to a vacuum source for deaeration of flowable materials placed within the chamber and the container. A line having a valve therein and vented to the atmosphere is connected to the chamber for returning the chamber to atmospheric pressure substantially instantaneously to compact the deaerated material into a substantially solid mass within the container. Upon completion of compaction the chamber of the vacuum fill system is removed from the interior of the container and the top of the container closed for shipment or storage.
