  • Patent number: 4278702
Abstract: A printed circuit board and a method of making the same is disclosed wherein a powdered conductive composition is placed on a dielectric substrate in a matrix corresponding to the desired electrical circuit pattern. The powdered conductive composition is then heated by induction so that the conductive particles are sintered to form continuous conductive pathways secured to the dielectric substrate. The use of relatively high frequency induction currents coupled with a relatively small size of the conductive particles results in rapid heating of the powdered conductive composition while leaving the underlying dielectric substrate unaffected by the induction heating.

  • Patent number: 4258409
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying powdered coating materials includes a central channel for directing the powdered coating material passed a conduit that mixes an air jet with the powdered material. The powder is then ionized and forced outwardly towards the workpiece. A conductive cathode attractor ring for creating a corona space charge which ionizes the particles is provided and includes a radially inner porous portion. Contamination of the attractor ring due to adherence thereon of powder particles is inhibited by diverting a secondary pressurized air flow through said porous portion thereby dislodging powder particles adhering to the ring. The porous inner portion is formed of a sintered mass of individual particles which provides an increased surface area for the attractor ring that, in turn, increases the corona space charge. A slidable deflector member is provided at the end of the central channel to alter the spray pattern of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4257667
Abstract: A non-insulated printed circuit board jack includes an outer stepped drawn shell member, and a stamped contact member disposed within the shell for receiving an electrical conductor. The shell member has at one end a minor diameter portion which is freely receivable in an aperture in the printed circuit board. Intermediate its length the shell includes an integral flexible retaining portion which is generally polygonal in cross-section having alternating corner portions and side portions. The corner portions are resistively receivable in the printed circuit board aperture such that when the shell retaining portion is inserted into the aperture the inner circumference of the aperture forces the corner portions of the shell inwardly, and causes the outward expansion of the side portions, whereby the shell retaining portion tends to conform to the configuration of the printed circuit board aperture. By this arrangement, an interference or snug fit is achieved between the connector and the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4242107
Abstract: An apparatus for sampling an atmosphere for the presence of a constituent in which a flow of the atmosphere is first drawn through a trap capable of releasably absorbing the constituent and the trap is then passed through a carrier gas stream which removes and conveys the constituent into a detector. The trap can comprise a rotatable disc of wire mesh which cuts continuously across a flow of the atmosphere and a carrier gas flow. The volume flow rate of the atmosphere is greater than that of the carrier gas so giving a large concentration gain of the constituent in the carrier flow. The apparatus can be used for detecting the presence in the atmosphere of vapors emanating from explosives and for this purpose the carrier gas flow can be directed into an electron capture detector.
