Patent number: 6809887Abstract: A panoramic imaging system is constructed to acquire panoramic images of a very large field of view. The field of view ranges from being nearly hemispherical, to being omni directional with some parts occluded. The panoramic imaging system is comprised of multiple imaging sensors, each imaging different parts of the field of view. The panoramic image is constructed by mosaicing the images taken by different sensors that share a common viewpoint. The resolution across the entire panoramic image is substantially the same. Specific embodiments of the camera provide specific combinations of features, such as different visual fields.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2003Date of Patent: October 26, 2004Assignee: Vision Technologies, IncInventors: Chunyu Gao, Hong Hua, Narendra Ahuja

Patent number: 6594502Abstract: This invention relates to a dating service which allows potential dates to observe the users of the system in their automobiles. The preview of the person allows them to decide if they are compatible in age, attractiveness, and economic level. The potential date could then call a telephone service to hear a brief message about the person's interests and information, after entering in the automobile's license plate number. A voice message can then be left for the user of the system for anonymous contact.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1999Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Singles AdvantageInventor: Henry Koester

Patent number: 6391868Abstract: This invention involves the administration of the natural androgen metabolite 5-alpha-androst-1-en-3,17-dione(1-androstenedione) to produce an androgenic and anabolic response in humans. 1-Androstenedione behaves as a prohormone in vivo, and converts to the active hormone 17-beta-hydroxy-5-alpha-androst-1-en-3-one.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2001Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: LPT Research, Inc.Inventor: Patrick Arnold

Patent number: 6301827Abstract: A trap for insects, primarily the Japanese beetle, which is supported on the surface of a body of water by a floating support, the support having an aperture which holds an upright, elongated tube. A funnel is fitted into the top end of the tube, and a scent-based means for luring insects into the funnel is supported by the upwardly facing entrance opening of the funnel. The insects are attracted to the scent-based means and fall through the funnel, tube, and aperture, onto the surface of water below the trap. The trap may be held upright by a means, such as a pipe anchored to the ground, the trap being vertically slidingly coupled to the means for holding the trap upright.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1999Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Inventor: Garland F. Lankster

Patent number: 6295796Abstract: The invention relates to a method of removing selected rows of corn out of a corn field which is particularly important for removing male rows of corn in a field of seed corn. The female seed corn rows are left undamaged, as a harvester passes over the top of the seed corn. Seed corn is grown with one or two rows of a male corn which pollinate three to five rows of the female seed corn. Once the pollination occurs, the male corn is unwanted and can cause contamination of the species of corn.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1999Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Inventor: Charles Raup

Patent number: 6194860Abstract: The invention is a method of using computer vision to control systems consisting of a combination of holonomic and nonholonomic degrees of freedom such as a wheeled rover equipped with a robotic arm, a forklift, and earth-moving equipment such as a backhoe or a front-loader. Using vision sensors mounted on the mobile system and the manipulator, the system establishes a relationship between the internal joint configuration of the holonomic degrees of freedom of the manipulator and the appearance of features on the manipulator in the reference frames of the vision sensors. Then, the system, perhaps with the assistance of an operator, identifies the locations of the target object in the reference frames of the vision sensors. Using this target information, along with the relationship described above, the system determines a suitable trajectory for the nonholonomic degrees of freedom of the base to follow towards the target object.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1999Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Yoder Software, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Seelinger, John-David S. Yoder, Steven B. Skaar

Patent number: 6163902Abstract: An x-ray trauma board having a rigid, flat, radiolucent, substantially transparent top support separated from a flat, rigid base by a plurality of spacers along either side of the board, leaving spaces along either side of the board through which an x-ray cassette may be inserted. The top support, base, and spacers define an open space in which the cassette may be positioned. The top support is hinged to the spacers along one side of the board for raising and lowering of the top support.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1999Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Inventors: Julie M. Mollette, Brenda Ann Denney

Patent number: 6135480Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for supporting the back of a wheelchair having a person siting in the wheelchair, when the wheelchair is tilted backwards. The apparatus consists of a base, stand, and crossbar for engaging the frame of the wheelchair. The frame of the wheelchair is supported near its handles by the crossbar of the invention, allowing some mobility in the wheelchair resting on the invention.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1999Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Inventor: Norman E. Patent number: 5730666Abstract: A portable and collapsible screen unfolds and extends to provide a wall, divider or backstop which has many uses. The screen can be used as a backstop for ball games, a wind block, a privacy screen, or anywhere a small divider, screen or barricade is needed. Two base poles support a main pole where all the poles extend telescopically and a screen is attached to the far ends of the extended main poles. Anchoring means and floor base means are connected to the poles. Additional frame members and nets can be attached to extend the screen and form various shapes.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Retail Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Glenn E.
