Abstract: An electric machine includes a rotor, a first tooth portion, and a second tooth portion spaced apart from the first tooth portion and cooperating with the first tooth portion to at least partially define a rotor opening. At least a portion of the rotor is disposed within the rotor opening. A bridge has a first end connected to the first tooth portion and a second end connected to the second tooth portion such that the bridge defines a portion of the rotor opening. An aperture is defined by the bridge and is disposed between the first end and the second end.

Abstract: A pump includes a housing and a shaft rotatable about an axis. The shaft has a shaft diameter and has a portion disposed within the housing. A plurality of retractable vanes is coupled to the shaft and each vane includes a first end that contacts the housing. A seal element is positioned to define a seal between the shaft and the housing. The seal element includes a first bushing, a second bushing, and a dry seal assembly including a wiper that defines a diameter that is smaller than the shaft diameter.

Abstract: A nasal dilator capable of introducing separating stresses in nasal outer wall tissues has a resilient member and a pair of spaced-apart end surfaces which can be forced toward one another from an initial flat position of the dilator to thereby substantially reduce the direct spacing therebetween by an external spacing reducing force. This results in restoring forces in the dilator tending to return it to the original direct spacing between the end surfaces. Resilient members, which can be asymmetrical with respect to a centerline of the dilator that is parallel to the long axis of the dilator, have a spring rate which continuously diminishes from the centerline to the end surfaces. The edges of the resilient members are contiguous to the edge of the cushion layer so that adhesive on the cushion layer is at the same level as the bottom surface of the resilient members.

The support frame includes a plurality of recesses for receiving a plurality of battery cells, a first vent, a second vent, a first peripheral support section, a second peripheral support section, and an air passage. The first vent is located on a first distal end of the support frame, the second vent is located on a second distal end of the support frame, and the air passage is located between the first vent and the second vent. The first and second peripheral support sections space apart and securely hold the plurality of battery cells within the battery pack.

The storage case comprises a first frame member having an inner surface and an edge defining a hinge portion, and a second frame member having an inner surface and an edge defining a hinge portion. A rod is positioned along a longitudinal axis of the storage case. The hinge portions of the first and second frame members are coupled to the rod to define a hinge positioned along a longitudinal axis of the storage case. The first and second frame members are pivotal with respect to each other between an open position and a closed position. An accessory receptacle, including a hinge boss, is received by the rod. When the first and second frame members are in the open position, the accessory receptacle is slidable along the rod between a plurality of axial positions.

Abstract: A fluid dispenser and method of operating the same. The fluid dispenser can include a wheel driven by diluent passing along a flow path in the fluid dispenser. The wheel can be connected to a pump to pump fluid from a reservoir for dispense into the diluent. In some embodiments, the ratio of wheel rotations to pump cycles is selected to provide a desired and repeatable dilution ratio of concentrated fluid to diluent. The fluid dispenser can be portable and/or disposable, and in some embodiments is adapted for installation on an upper rim of a reservoir wall. Also, the fluid dispenser can be provided with a baffle limiting the velocity and impact of incoming diluent to the wheel driving the pump, thereby improving dosing accuracy of the dispenser in some embodiments.

Abstract: Provided are cap layer compositions and base layer compositions, providing quick and extended release of an active ingredient, respectively, when placed in water. Further provided are dual release compositions including a base composition and a cap composition. The base composition may include a plaster and an active agent, and it may further include at least one of a water-soluble binder, a non-water-soluble binder, and a lubricant. The cap composition may include a plaster and an active agent, and it may further include at least one of a disintegrating agent, a non-water-soluble binder, and a lubricant. The compositions may be heated and mixed and formed into a tablet. Further provided are methods of making the compositions. Further provided are methods of controlling or eliminating pests and methods of increasing the potability of water. The compositions are effective for controlling or eliminating pests such as mosquitoes when applied at an application site.

Abstract: A paper shredder comprising a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feed slot and an aperture providing communication between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area. An edge defines at least a portion of the aperture and is oriented at an angle oblique to the feeder slot. The edge can be positioned at an angle of 3 degrees to 70 degrees, and preferably at about 10 degrees relative to the feeder slot. Preferably, the edge includes a first section at an angle of between 3 degrees and 20 degrees relative to the feeder slot, and a second section at an angle of between 20 degrees and 45 degrees relative to the feeder slot. The shredder can further comprise a deflection member for deflecting clips falling into the aperture.
