  • Patent number: 6826726
Abstract: In a system comprising a local processing device, a transmission link to a remote processing device, and a remote processing device, a method for updating a remote document in accordance with mutations made to a portion of the remote document maintained on the local processing device comprising the steps of loading at least a portion of the remote document into the local processing device as a local XML document, creating a logical document object model (DOM) having a plurality of nodes arranged in a logical hierarchical structure such that each node corresponds to an XML tag and data element in the XML document, mutating the XML document by adding, deleting, or modifying one or more of its data elements, updating the DOM to conform to the mutations to the XML document, creating a first event table that contains events corresponding to each mutation to the XML document where each entry comprises a path to a node in the DOM affected by the mutation and an event type, processing the first event table to create

  • Patent number: 6742930
Abstract: A flexible container for liquids including an outer shell, an inner liner and an intermediate structure in which the intermediate liner is coupled to the outer shell to maintain a cross-sectional profile and the volume of the inner liner is greater than the enclosed volume of the intermediate structure. Liquids are loaded into a flexible container wherein the container is lifted by straps so that the container hangs freely, the container is filled with the liquid, the filling tube is sealed, the sealed tube is placed between the outer shell and stabilizing straps on the outside surface of the outer shell and the flexible container is then rested on a surface, trapping the filling tube between the outside surface and strap so that the container is securely sealed.

  • Patent number: 6729293
Abstract: An apparatus for releasing excessive pressure from a cylinder of an internal combustion engine comprises a sealing element inserted into a passageway that extends from an internal surface of the cylinder through the engine block or cylinder head to end at a point of ambient air pressure. The sealing element is thermally responsive and will release to cause the passageway to form a vent passage between the cylinder and the ambient air upon the occurrence of any one of a number of conditions of excessive pressure and temperature in the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6646270
Abstract: A germicidal mailbox receives mail in an internal, rotatable cage, and tumbles such mail while irradiating it with ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 254 nanometers to kill or render inert microbes on the mail that could carry diseases to which humans are susceptible. After the mail has been tumbled and irradiated, it is safe for handling by humans without the danger of infection and disease from microbes that may purposefully, through terrorism, or accidentally have become attached to the mail.

  • Patent number: 6585277
Abstract: A hand powered cart uses a drive mechanism having a power lever operated by the operator's hands and arms, and is steerable by the operator's feet. The drive mechanism includes a closed drive chain that is given forward motion by a one-way freewheeling power sprocket, and that loops around idler sprockets, a drive sprocket, and a take-up sprocket. The power sprocket is attached to a reciprocating power lever, and moves back and forth. When moving forward, the power sprocket drives the drive chain. When moving backwards, the power sprocket freewheels without disengaging from the chain. The take-up sprocket is forced against the chain by a spring, and maintains the chain within a predetermined range of tension.

  • Patent number: 6477971
Abstract: A bilge drainage system for a boat having a through-transom drainage passageway has a through-transom pipe connected to an externally-mounted flange and connected internally to a manually or electronically operated stopcock located near the bottom of the bilge such that the stopcock may be opened, and bilge water drained to the sea, when the boat is traveling through the water on a plane.

  • Patent number: 6382159
Abstract: A spark plug for venting excessive engine cylinder pressure may be either pressure or temperature activated. A vent passage is created in a conventional spark plug by drilling an air vent through the housing of a conventional spark plug to a point that experiences cylinder pressures. The air vent is then sealed with a mechanical element of known structural strength and temperature response. Upon the development of excessive engine temperature, cylinder pressure, or both, the sealing element gives way, generating an air passage from the combustion chamber to the atmosphere through which cylinder pressure is vented. By venting excessive pressure, the disastrous effects of detonation, hydrolock, and other deleterious engine conditions may be avoided. Prior to the failure of the seal, the spark plug functions identically to a conventional spark plug.

  • Patent number: 6358163
Abstract: A durable batting tee utilizes an adjustable compression nut to provide a range of adjustable heights for extensible vertical pipes, and an inverted flexible cone atop the vertical pipes upon which a baseball is placed for hitting, such that the compression nut will maintain the rubber cone at a predetermined height, and the flexible cone will maintain its integrity throughout a lifetime of repeated strikes with a baseball bat. The baseplate is dimensioned and weighted to hold the tee upright during normal use, and to permit tipping when subjected to errant swings of a bat.
