Abstract: A flat, flexible electrochemical cell is provided. The within invention describes various aspects of the flat, flexible electrochemical cell. A printed anode is provided that obviates the need for a discrete anode current collector, thereby reducing the size of the battery. An advantageous electrolyte is provided that enables the use of a metallic cathode current collector, thereby improving the performance of the battery. Printable gelled electrolytes and separators are provided, enabling the construction of both co-facial and co-planar batteries. Cell contacts are provided that reduce the potential for electrolyte creepage in the flat, flexible electrochemical cells of the within invention.

Abstract: A cell and a method for preparing an electrochemical cell having an electrode containing a mixture of agglomerated particles and nonagglomerated particles are disclosed. The process enables the incorporation of small particles of electrochemically active material, such as zinc dust, into the electrode's formula while preventing undesirable segmentation of the particles.
Abstract: An adhesive closure for sealing closed the open end of an electrochemical cell container. The electrochemical cell comprises a can having an open end and a side wall, and positive and negative electrodes disposed in the can. The cell also has a cover disposed on the open end of the can and having a peripheral wall radially outside of the side wall of the can. One or more adhesives are disposed between the outer side wall of the can and the peripheral wall of the cover for adhering the cover to the can.
Abstract: A flexible control system and method of controlling a processing operation. The control system and method may be employed to control a high speed manufacturing system for processing articles of manufacture requiring processes to be performed on the articles at a pre-selected processing rate includes a trunk for simultaneously conveying a plurality of the articles of manufacture at the pre-selected processing rate in a first mode of motion from the beginning of the manufacturing system to the end of the system. At least one branch processing station is positioned intermediate the beginning and the end of the trunk wherein the branch processing station during its operation performs at least one process on articles of manufacture conveyed on the branch processing station and where the articles are conveyed in a second mode of motion.
Abstract: A flashlight that can be adjusted to provide different size light patterns at a predefined distance from the light is disclosed. The light patterns are always in-focus thereby providing well defined and uniformly illuminated areas of light. The focusing mechanism utilizes stationary lenses and a movable lens to adjust the diameter of the light pattern without allowing the pattern to become out of focus.
Abstract: A tabless battery housed in a sealed package is provided. The packaging material for the battery comprises a conductive material and a sealing material. At least a portion of the interior surface of the conductive material is exposed to form an internal contact between at least one electrode and the conductive material. At least a portion of the exterior surface of the conductive material is also exposed to form an external contact between the electrode and the device.

Abstract: The invention provides for an apparatus and method for making a flexible battery that is electrolyte-tight by ensuring that electrolyte does not contact the unsealed portion of the battery enclosure when electrolyte is injected into the battery enclosure and before it is sealed. The apparatus for assembling a flexible battery comprises a support body adapted to support a battery enclosure having an electrode pouch and a fill opening located in an upper portion of the electrode pouch. The apparatus comprises a dispensing element having a discharge orifice that directs the flow of electrolyte inside the electrode pouch and away from the unsealed surfaces of the battery enclosure when the dispensing element is in the fill position. The method of assembling a pouch battery comprises arranging the battery enclosure so that the fill opening is located in an upper portion of the electrode pouch and dispensing the electrolyte into the electrode pouch.
