  • Patent number: 8351663
Abstract: Dot templates are used for detecting objects within images. A computer-implemented method is performed for each of a number of dot templates corresponding to the object to be detected within an image. Each dot template is defined as a collection of points. At each position within the image, a value of the image is determined at each point of the dot template. The dot template is effectively overlaid at the given position within the image. A score of the dot template at this position is determined, based on the values of the image determined at the points of the dot template. Where the score is greater than a predetermined threshold, it can be concluded that the object is at least potentially located within the image at the position in question at which the dot template has been effectively overlaid.

  • Patent number: 8256948
Abstract: An LED 1 and an LED 2 are respectively arranged at diagonal positions so as to face the long sides of a lens 3 having a shape of a substantially rectangular parallelepiped. Further, the LED 1 and the LED 2 respectively emit light beams to the side surface portions of the long sides of the lens 3 so as to prevent the light beams from intersecting with each other. The lens 3 has a function to reflect the light beams emitted by the LED 1 and the LED 2 by cut-out sections 34 to 36 and projecting sections 31 to 33. Therefore, the light beams emitted by the LED 1 and the LED 2 are emitted from holes of a display section side case 10, which holes are formed in correspondence with the three light-emitting sections 31 to 33 of the lens 3.

  • Patent number: 8250429
Abstract: A turbo encoder is provided to be capable of improving its performance in the case that the redundancy is low. A first constituent encoder (1) of an output device of the turbo encoder inputs a data coding sequence (Xk) directly and outputs a redundant data sequence (Zk). A second constituent encoder (2) inputs data coding information (X?k) mixed with the data coding sequence by an interleaver (3), and outputs a redundant data sequence (Z?k). A buffer (4) holds the data coding information (X?k) mixed with the data coding sequence by the interleaver (3). Thus, the data coding sequence (Xk), the redundant data sequences (Zk), (Z?k) and the data coding information (X?k) held by the buffer (4) are output in this order.

  • Patent number: 8244245
Abstract: A plurality of radio base stations connected to a network are divided into radio base stations of the upper-level version having a specific function and radio base stations of lower-level version not having the specific function. Each portable telephone has a cell selecting function of receiving message information transmitted from each radio base station, detecting the cell having the highest radio quality indicating adequateness to communication from the message information, and selecting the detected cell as the cell to which the portable telephone belongs. The portable telephone is characterized by enabling the user to select either an upper-level version communication mode in which the portable telephone connects and communicates only with the radio base stations of the upper-level version or normal communication mode in which the portable telephone connects and communicates with all the radio base stations.

  • Patent number: 8240965
Abstract: A mounting structure is provided which is capable of easily attaching a heat sink irrespective of a thickness of an LSI (Large-Scale Integration circuit) mounted on a printed circuit board. Each female screw metal fitting of each female screw portion is attached on an upper surface of a cylindrical gel in a stacked manner and a lower surface of the cylindrical gel is attached to the printed circuit board. An end portion of each male screw is made to pass through each through-hole of the heat sink so as to be screwed into each of the female screw portions. With a progress of screwing therein, each of the female screw portions is elevated and the cylindrical gel is pulled and elongated. Since a restoring force occurs when the cylindrical gel is elongated, the heat sink is pulled by each of the female screw portions toward the LSI. Thus, variations in height can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 8243813
Abstract: The moving picture decoding device receives a moving picture bit stream compressed according to a coding method using interframe prediction and 2-dimensional discrete cosine transform. The device generates a decoded picture in a block unit from an interframe prediction picture generated by decoding the bit stream and a prediction residual generated by performing the 2-dimensional discrete cosine transform and integerization processing on a discrete cosine transform coefficient. The device judges, block-by-block, whether it is highly probable that the prediction residual of “0” is obtained by the processing of the 2-dimensional discrete cosine transform and integerization executed by the encoding device when compressing the bit stream. If YES, the interframe prediction picture is selected and outputted. Otherwise, the prediction residual generated by the decoding device is added to the interframe prediction picture so as to obtain a picture, which is selected and outputted.

  • Patent number: 8237772
Abstract: When a start recording instruction or an end recording instruction is transmitted from a terminal device, a DTMF detector (106) detects a DTMF signal and supplies the detection results to a control module (107). The control module (107) supplies the received start recording instruction or end recording instruction to an image data converter (105) and a switch (108). When a start recording instruction is received as input, the image data converter (105) converts the reception image data (103) to image data that have undergone intramode coding and supplies the result to the switch (108). The switch (108) supplies a storage device (110) with the image data that were supplied from image data converter (105) at the time that a start recording instruction is received as input, and supplies the storage device (110) with reception image data (103) from the time that recording has started until the input of an end recording instruction.

  • Patent number: 8238503
Abstract: A clock data recovering circuit solving a problem in which a stable clock signal cannot be extracted is provided. A phase comparator includes a main-signal-discriminator. The main-signal-discriminator discriminates a reception signal by a clock signal to generate recovery data indicating the discrimination result. Phase comparator 2 uses the discrimination result of the main-signal-discriminator to compare phases of a reception signal and a recovery clock and outputs a phase comparison signal indicating the comparison result. A generator generates a recovery clock with a frequency corresponding to the comparison result indicated by the phase comparison signal outputted from phase comparator 2. An eye opening monitor detects an optimal discrimination point of main-signal-discriminator 1 based on a monitor signal split from the reception signal and the recovery data generated by the main-signal-discriminator.
