Abstract: A process for preparing oxo-hexameric zirconium-octaamino acid, such as glycine, salt comprising: mixing zirconium (Zr):amino acid:and mineral acid, in a molar ratio of 1:about 1 to about 15:about 1.5 to about 3 to form a mixture; optionally, filtering the mixture; and optionally, drying the mixture. An oxo-hexameric zirconium-octaamino acid salt of the molecular formula: oxo-[Zr6AminoAcid8].Xy.nH2O, wherein Zr is zirconium, X is an anion of a mineral acid, and n and y are numerical values from 0 to 20. A method of making an antiperspirant active zirconium-aluminum-amino acid compound comprising mixing an oxo-hexameric zirconium-octaamino acid salt with aluminum chlorohydrex and/or aluminum chloride, and drying the mixture. The smallest oxo-hexameric zirconium-octaamino acid salt of this invention provides stability, efficacy, and shelf life of zirconium-amino acid species for formulations in antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions.

Abstract: An apparatus and system for characterizing and quantifying certain attributes of antiperspirants and deodorants is provided, such as payout, friction, and flakeoff. The apparatus is capable of reproducibly applying antiperspirants and deodorant to a substrate.
Abstract: Skin moisturizing formulations which can be administered in the bath or shower, depositing a thin layer of moisturizing agents on application, which is not rinsed off but remains to protect the skin from drying, resulting in smoother, softer skin feel; the formulations comprising polyvalent metal cations and fatty acids, which react on application in the shower or bath to form a thin deposit of insoluble salts, thereby enhancing the retention of moisturizing oils and conditioning agents.
Abstract: Cleaning compositions are described comprising an aqueous component: an organic solvent; an anionic surfactant; an amine co-surfactant containing either (a) an N-oxide group or (b) a zwitterionic group; and a nonionic surfactant; in a form of a microemulsion or microemulsion preconcentrate. Methods of cleaning a hard surface using such compositions are also described.
Abstract: Described are methods for preparing compositions that include the steps of (a) premixing a cationic guar gum in water; (b) adding a surfactant component to the premix of (a); (c) adding about 1 to about 3 weight % of salt to the mixture obtained in (b); (d) applying shear to the mixture obtained in (c) at a shear rate not exceeding about 20 sec?1 to form a spherulite composition; and (f) mixing an oil phase with the spherulite composition. Also included are compositions prepared by this process.
