    Abstract: A system/method of establishing a two-way communication system between a testing/manufacturing site and a component vendor is disclosed. The system allows the test results related to a component failure to be immediately available to a vendor by allowing the vendor password protected access to a product database that contains information regarding the product being tested. The system automatically alerts the vendor associated with the defective component, and allows the vendor to download the vendor's failure analysis report to the product database as soon as it becomes available. Upon receipt of the vendor's failure analysis report, the appropriate testing/manufacturing personnel are notified.

Total run time may be calculated in response to a plurality of torpedo speed changes and/or torpedo configurations of variable torpedo length or torpedo diameter.     Abstract: A method for encrypting and decrypting two-dimensional data is provided using a selected fractal a square fractal key matrix size and associated fractal computation initialization values. The fractal key matrix is computed iteratively, changing fractal parameters as necessary, to obtain a full rank fractal key matrix. Data to be encrypted is buffered in a two-dimensional matrix to allow matrix multiplication between the buffered data matrix and the fractal key matrix. The encrypted data, the encrypted data matrix dimensions, and the fractal parameters necessary to regenerate the fractal key are transmitted to a receiver that recreates the fractal key from the fractal parameters. The receiver additionally generates the fractal key matrix inverse. The data is decrypted by a matrix multiplication of the encrypted data and the fractal key matrix inverse.

    Abstract: A encapsulation method of an acoustic sensor module and a resultant lightweight watertight acoustic sensor module for use in towed array retrieval systems. In the method, a composite is cast to encapsulate the support between end plates of the module, an exterior of a passage tube in which the array is retrieved, transducers positioned on the tube exterior and supporting telemetry lines for the transducers. The components, listed previously, are cast into a block of the cured composite such that the arrangement of the components is fixed. Residual composite emitting from an aperture of an end plate allows a conductor for the telemetry lines to be potted into the composite with an end of the conductor free from the composite thereby allowing connection to an external controller or generator.

    Abstract: A dynamically reconfigurable wind turbine blade assembly includes a plurality of reconfigurable blades mounted on a hub, an actuator fixed to each of the blades and adapted to effect the reconfiguration thereof, and an actuator power regulator for regulating electrical power supplied to the actuators. A control computer accepts signals indicative of current wind conditions and blade configuration, and sends commands to the actuator power regulator. Sensors measure current wind conditions and current configurations and speed of the blades. An electrical generator supplies electrical power to the assembly. Data from the sensors is fed to the control computer which commands the actuator power regulator to energize the actuators to reconfigure the blades for optimum performance under current wind conditions.

    Abstract: A system for preventing overflow from a tank being filled. An open-ended elongated adapted for fixture to a tank extends from an opening of the tank and proximate to a bottom of the tank. A nozzle connectable to a source of pressurized liquid has an open end extension extending through the opening into the elongated tube. The nozzle creates broadband acoustic signals inside of the elongated tube during filling. A microphone mounted on the nozzle near the open end extension senses resonant frequency signals of the acoustic signals and generates representative signals. A module processes the representative signals and generates a closing signal when the representative signals represent a critical resonant frequency. A shut-off valve between the fuel source and the nozzle is responsive to the closing signal.

The color boundary processing section generates a plurality of color boundary feature vectors, each representing the difference between the color value for a pixel and its neighboring pixels.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus to clear mines uses tag particles dropped into ambient water across a wide area by an aircraft to sink and stick to submerged mines. The tag particles each contain a gas volume dimensioned to resonate with impinging acoustic energy and reflect portions of the impinging acoustic energy from a targeted mine. An unmanned underwater vehicle platform having a sonar system provided with at least one transducer projects the acoustic energy through the ambient water. At least one hydrophone transducer in the sonar system receives the reflected portions of the projected acoustic energy to locate a targeted mine to enable its destruction by high-energy supercavitating projectiles fired from the platform. Tag particles dissolve after a period of time to provide virtually no discernable traces of a mine hunting operation.

The skirt is expandable to increase a diameter of the skirt from proximate a diameter of the hull to proximate a diameter of the cavity to define an annular gas film between the expanded skirt and a boundary of the cavity. The expanded skirt acts to substantially reduce the flow of gas from a forward high pressure zone of gas to an after low pressure zone of gas.

A latching mechanism selectively engages and disengages the struts to hold the control elements in the stowed position and the fully deployed position, respectively. Launch tubes sized for the undersea vehicles can launch undersea vehicles provided with control surface system.

In this method and apparatus, a pair of sensors are mounted to a solid surface interfacing with a fluid at two separate stream wise locations. A voltage output from the pair of sensors is recorded and a real non-dimensional value of a correlation coefficient is computed with measured data from the recorded voltage. A laboratory non-dimensional value of the correlation coefficient is independently determined from laboratory data. The real non-dimensional value is compared with the laboratory non-dimensional value to obtain a boundary layer thickness having a value which minimizes a difference between the values of the real non-dimensional value and the laboratory non-dimensional value.
