Patent number: 7746773Abstract: The invention comprises a method and system for dynamically processing messages. After a message is received from a network or from an internal application, and the message type is identified, the invention determines whether an optimized handler should be used to process messages of the identified message type. If an optimized handler has not previously been generated for the identified message type or is otherwise not available, an optimized handler may be generated, during run-time, for subsequent processing of messages of the identified message type. In some embodiments, the invention maintains statistics relating the processing characteristics of different types of messages and these statistics are used to determine whether to generate an optimized handler or to use a generic handler to process subsequently received messages having a certain identified message type.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2003Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Martin Gerdes, Raphaël Quinet, Roman Levenshteyn, Torsten Dinsing

Patent number: 7729315Abstract: A method of performing cell measurements in a telecommunications system. The method includes the steps of receiving a signal by a user equipment (UE) operating within the telecommunications system and served by a serving cell, storing the received signal in a buffer, and determining a first portion of the signal related to the serving cell and a second portion related to neighbor (NB) cells. The first portion of the signal is decoded by the Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) and the signal strength is estimated by a measurement unit coupled to the FFT. Next, any approximately synchronized NB cell signals in the second portion of the signal are then decoded and a signal strength is estimated. It is then determined if sufficient time remains to process unsynchronized NB cell signals of the second portion of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2007Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Bengt Lindoff, Anders Wallén, Johan Nilsson

Patent number: 7715464Abstract: Multipath components of signals transmitted through time-varying digital radio channels are received with individual delays, and signals through a given channel comprise a code identifying that channel. A delay profile indicating a magnitude (Y) for delay values in a search window is calculated repetitively for known channels; the delays of multipath components for known channels estimated; a signal strength indicator calculated; and a search for new multipath components not already estimated performed at regular time intervals. When a new multipath component is found, its identification code is compared to the codes of the known channels. If the code of the new component is identical to the code of a known channel, a delay profile and a signal strength indicator is calculated for a window transposed to include the new multipath component. In this way as many multipath components as possible are included in the search window for a new cell.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2004Date of Patent: May 11, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Elias Jonsson, Roger Persson

Patent number: 7675846Abstract: A method and apparatus that utilizes the synchronization channel (SCH) by the user equipment (UE) to obtain time synchronization information and to perform cell search. In order to perform the SCH detection, only a correlation between the known SCH signal and the received sequence is needed, hence the FFT is not involved in the synchronization step. Typically the SCH and pilot symbols are transmitted with a constant power which is the same for all base stations. Hence, based on the serving cell (SC) SCH and pilot symbols, the power relation between these signals is estimated and the ratio applied when performing time synchronization to other cells (i.e. correlation the received sequence with the SCH from that particular NC) to estimate the pilot signal strength for the NB cell.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2006Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Bengt Lindoff, Anders Wallén

Patent number: 7672659Abstract: A method and system for increasing the compression point of a receiver by deriving a feedback signal from mixer output signals. The feedback signal prevents the receiver from going into compression on strong out-of-band or blocking signals, while enhancing the receiver gain at the desired frequency. The desired frequency coincides with the local oscillator (LO) signal and is therefore particularly applicable for, but not limited to, homodyne receivers where selectivity can be made quite narrowband. Since the selectivity is coupled to the LO, a tunable receiver may be achieved that enables selectivity over a wide range of input frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2003Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: Sven Mattisson
