  • Patent number: 7751630
Abstract: The invention is applied to image processing schemes by providing at least one auxiliary block processing mode in addition to the standard default block processing mode of the scheme. An image to be decoded is divided into a number of image blocks (800) having multiple image elements (810). These blocks (800) are individually compressed by means of a default compressing mode or an auxiliary compressing mode, depending on which mode that results in a smallest error metric. A portion (980) of the resulting compressed block (900) is used to discriminate between the two modes. In the auxiliary mode, the remaining payload portion (990) of the compressed block (900) can be used for encoding purposes, whereas the default mode can in addition utilize the discriminating portion (980).

  • Patent number: 7746773
Abstract: The invention comprises a method and system for dynamically processing messages. After a message is received from a network or from an internal application, and the message type is identified, the invention determines whether an optimized handler should be used to process messages of the identified message type. If an optimized handler has not previously been generated for the identified message type or is otherwise not available, an optimized handler may be generated, during run-time, for subsequent processing of messages of the identified message type. In some embodiments, the invention maintains statistics relating the processing characteristics of different types of messages and these statistics are used to determine whether to generate an optimized handler or to use a generic handler to process subsequently received messages having a certain identified message type.

  • Patent number: 7746876
Abstract: The present invention relates to moving networks in communication systems. An object of the invention is to provide moving network nodes (205, 206) in a moving network (201) with the ability to simultaneously access several external access networks (211, 212, 213) accessible by different mobile routers (204, 207) such that a data packet directed to an address external to the moving network can be sent from a moving network node via any of the mobile routers (204, 207) and via a tunnel setup in any of the simultaneously accessible external accesses to a home agent (216) in a home network (215) of the mobile router. This is achieved by synchronizing between the mobile routers data regarding the external accesses of each mobile router, and, when a data packet is received at a first mobile router (204), the first mobile router selects external access based on the synchronized external access information, information in the data packet and optionally also based on access selection policies.

  • Patent number: 7729315
Abstract: A method of performing cell measurements in a telecommunications system. The method includes the steps of receiving a signal by a user equipment (UE) operating within the telecommunications system and served by a serving cell, storing the received signal in a buffer, and determining a first portion of the signal related to the serving cell and a second portion related to neighbor (NB) cells. The first portion of the signal is decoded by the Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) and the signal strength is estimated by a measurement unit coupled to the FFT. Next, any approximately synchronized NB cell signals in the second portion of the signal are then decoded and a signal strength is estimated. It is then determined if sufficient time remains to process unsynchronized NB cell signals of the second portion of the signal.

  • Patent number: 7715464
Abstract: Multipath components of signals transmitted through time-varying digital radio channels are received with individual delays, and signals through a given channel comprise a code identifying that channel. A delay profile indicating a magnitude (Y) for delay values in a search window is calculated repetitively for known channels; the delays of multipath components for known channels estimated; a signal strength indicator calculated; and a search for new multipath components not already estimated performed at regular time intervals. When a new multipath component is found, its identification code is compared to the codes of the known channels. If the code of the new component is identical to the code of a known channel, a delay profile and a signal strength indicator is calculated for a window transposed to include the new multipath component. In this way as many multipath components as possible are included in the search window for a new cell.

  • Patent number: 7684312
Abstract: A method and corresponding apparatus for fast FFT processing of paging information includes receiving an analog signal that is converted to a first digital signal and digitally filtered through a first filter having a first bandwidth (BWA) to obtain a second digital signal. The second digital signal is stored in a buffer. The first digital signal is further digitally filtered through a second filter having a second bandwidth (BWB) to obtain a third digital signal. An FFTM processing of the third digital signal is initiated and simultaneously, an FFTN processing of the second digital signal is initiated. The FFTM processed third digital signal is then decoded and, based on the decoding of the FFTM processed third digital signal, a determination is made of whether to complete the FFTN processing of the second digital signal from the buffer.

  • Patent number: 7675846
Abstract: A method and apparatus that utilizes the synchronization channel (SCH) by the user equipment (UE) to obtain time synchronization information and to perform cell search. In order to perform the SCH detection, only a correlation between the known SCH signal and the received sequence is needed, hence the FFT is not involved in the synchronization step. Typically the SCH and pilot symbols are transmitted with a constant power which is the same for all base stations. Hence, based on the serving cell (SC) SCH and pilot symbols, the power relation between these signals is estimated and the ratio applied when performing time synchronization to other cells (i.e. correlation the received sequence with the SCH from that particular NC) to estimate the pilot signal strength for the NB cell.

  • Patent number: 7672659
Abstract: A method and system for increasing the compression point of a receiver by deriving a feedback signal from mixer output signals. The feedback signal prevents the receiver from going into compression on strong out-of-band or blocking signals, while enhancing the receiver gain at the desired frequency. The desired frequency coincides with the local oscillator (LO) signal and is therefore particularly applicable for, but not limited to, homodyne receivers where selectivity can be made quite narrowband. Since the selectivity is coupled to the LO, a tunable receiver may be achieved that enables selectivity over a wide range of input frequencies.
