  • Patent number: 6544044
Abstract: The present invention relates to a BGA package IC socket that accommodates a BGA (ball grid array) package such that the BGA package IC socket has high reliability and can withstand long-term use. The socket is equipped with package receiving members 140. Package receiving parts 141 of members 140 receive the portions of the BGA package 10 located in the vicinity of the opposite edges of the undersurface of the BGA package 10. The parts 141 pivot downward with the insertion of the BGA package 10. The parts 141 have a shaft which are supported on the housing so that the package receiving members 140 are free to pivot. Springs 150 cooperate with the members 140, such that the springs 150 resist the insertion of the BGA package into the socket.

  • Patent number: 6112994
Abstract: A card reader connector (10) includes a housing (12) having a base (14) and a cover (40) securable together and defining a card receiving slot (60) extending therebetween. The rear wall (22) and side walls (30) of the base (14) coextend alongside and inwardly of the rear wall (50) and side walls (56) of the cover (40) upon assembly. The cover side walls (56) each include at least one flange (58) extending inwardly, and the base side walls (30) each include flange-receiving openings (32) and flange-receiving slots (34) associated with the flanges (58) and the cover (40) and the base (14) include cooperating locking sections operable after final stages of assembly. During assembly the side wall flanges (58) of the cover (40) are moved into respective flange-receiving slots (34) securing the cover (40) and base (14) from movement directly apart, and the locking sections securing the cover (40) and base (14) from any further relative sliding movement.

  • Patent number: 6093064
Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed for enhancing the thermal emissivity of an electrical connection. An electrical connector, such as a typical C-member and wedge style connector, is provided that is constructed of electrically conductive material and has a surface treatment on the exterior surfaces of the connector that increases emissivity of the connector. Contact surfaces are provided on the connector that are electrically conductive for ensuring electrical continuity within the connector. The surface treatment operates to increase the thermal transfer efficiency within the connector and thereby lower the operating temperature of the connector.

  • Patent number: 6089898
Abstract: The invention is directed to a latching arm for an electrical connector. The latching arm has a main body with a connection point to the housing of the electrical connector. The main body has a securing section for engaging a mating connector. The main body has a back-up member for engaging the housing. Whereby when the connection point weakens due to stresses on the connection point, the back-up member engages the housing thereby maintaining a good connection between the electrical connector and the mating connector.
