  • Patent number: 8307097
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are disclosed for monitoring a telecommunications network that comprises a plurality of Mobility Management Entity (MME) nodes and a plurality of evolved UTRAN NodeB (eNodeB) nodes coupled by S1-MME interfaces. A Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) association identifier is assigned to an SCTP association between interconnected MME and eNodeB nodes. Specific S1-MME messages allow discovering the MME nodes and the eNodeB nodes with their network identifiers, identifying the connections between them and populating proper tables for this topology information.

  • Patent number: 8254282
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring IP flows in a network is disclosed. A plurality of monitor probes are coupled to links in the network, the monitor probes capture data packets from the links and determine protocols in OSI Layers 3, 4, and 5/7 of the packets. A user interface receives user inputs selecting the links and protocols for analysis. A display is coupled to the monitor probes and the user interface. The display and user interface receiving a user selection of links for analysis and display a first protocol analysis to the user, the first protocol analysis display comprising a pie chart representing all OSI Layer 3 protocols captured on the selected links, a pie chart representing all OSI Layer 4 protocols captured on the selected links, and a pie chart representing all OSI Layer 5/7 protocols captured on the selected links.

  • Patent number: 8254573
Abstract: System and method for forwarding a ciphering key to a decipher application comprising capturing a first message carrying the ciphering key from a first network interface, identifying a network node associated with the first network interface, identifying a monitor responsible for processing messages captured from interfaces coupled to the network node, and forwarding the ciphering key to the monitor. In an alternative embodiment, the method may further comprise capturing second messages carrying encrypted messages from a second network interface, and deciphering the second messages using the ciphering key. The method may also comprise identifying user equipment associated with the first messages, and selecting a deciphering application running on the monitor using a user equipment identity.

  • Patent number: 8139503
Abstract: System and method for automatically detecting nodes, components and interfaces in a network. A preferred embodiment comprises detecting nodes in a network, wherein the nodes are coupled to a network controller, comprises identifying ports for the network controller, capturing messages received by the network controller at the ports, parsing the messages to identify a node address parameter, wherein the node address parameter uniquely identifies the node to the network controller, and if the node address parameter has not been previously identified, adding a new entry to a node database.

  • Patent number: 8068501
Abstract: System and method for correlating multiple frames of data associated with a single call into a call record. One embodiment comprises correlating data in a radio access network by capturing data passing to and from a radio network controller, identifying ATM Adaptation Layer type 5 (AAL5) frames within the data, assigning a first call identifier to the AAL5 frames, identifying ATM Adaptation Layer type 2 (AAL2) frames within the data, assigning a second call identifier to the AAL2 frames, and combining AAL2 frames and AAL5 frames having a same first call identifier and a same second call identifier into a call record. The data passing to and from the first radio network controller may be data passing over an Iub interface between a Node B and the radio network controller or data passing over an Iur interface between two radio network controllers.

  • Patent number: 7685479
Abstract: On a test apparatus for a telecommunication network a plurality of quality rules are defined as a function of the results of counts of events for a plurality of test parameters. The events relating to the plurality of test parameters during the performance of a test are counted. A plurality of statistics are created from the results of the counts. The statistics and quality rules which belong together are compared. A display is generated on a display unit in accordance with the results of the comparisons showing success or failure for each test run. Details of errors that caused any failure may be displayed using a drill-down technique so that test runs may be run rapidly without requiring expert knowledge of the test apparatus.
