  • Patent number: 8294102
Abstract: This relates to a chemical biological threat detection system for enhancing the, discrimination in chemical biological threat detection in atmospheric air, low level chemical biological threat detection in air, as well as tactical determination of threat chemical biological agents' concentrations in a specific atmospheric range, at various time intervals. This uses the concept of quantitative monitoring the atmospheric air for chemical biological threats, as well as measuring the quantitative correlations/ratios in differential changes in the air, for the active/passive chemical biological Infrared (IR) EM radiation at an 8-12 ?M wavelength, absorption/emission/scattering, using Electro-Optics. This chemical biological solution will use the reference chemical biological IR EM radiation (absorption, emission, scattering) signatures for comparison.

  • Patent number: 8256385
Abstract: A twin pet leash prevents tangling by permitting the reel portion to rotate relative to the handle portion, and features individually controllable leash stop mechanisms. Even while an individual leash is stopped, the reel portion can rotate relative to the handle portion so that tangling of the pet leashes is avoided. The leash handle portion has two triggers which are color coded to match the color of the leash, so that a user can readily identify which of the two leashes are to be stopped. Either or both of the leashes can be stopped or released, without interfering with the operation of the other one of the leashes.

  • Patent number: 7630590
Abstract: A novel optical sensor is used for monitoring the thickness of deposited thin film in real time. The sensor operates on the basic principle of a Fabry-Perot interferometer. A MEMS based design is used to fabricate the optical fiber sensor. Detail analytical results provide the theoretical model based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer, and show that the optical fiber sensor can successfully monitor and measure the thickness of deposited thin-film in real time. Since thin-film will be deposited simultaneously on both surfaces of sensor head and targeted silicon wafer, the sensor can be used in the fabrication of IC and MEMS devices, as well as in proteomics, nano-sensors, and biosensors.

  • Patent number: 6727427
Abstract: An electrical wiring channel is installed beneath a wallboard, and includes a wiring channel member, a wiring faceplate, and a baseboard. The electrical wiring channel can be retrofit into existing buildings, by removing existing molding, and removing a portion of the wallboard below level of the molding to leave a gap or recess within which the wiring channel member can be inserted. The wiring channel member is C-shaped and has a female fastener member with a bore therein for receiving a male fastener member of the wiring faceplate. A new baseboard can be adhered to the wiring faceplate. Additional variations can include a right-angled channel portion for use with interior wall corners, exterior wall corners, or with door frames.

  • Patent number: 6643849
Abstract: A no-slip, no-spill, no-hands urinal provides freedom and a hygienic environment for a person confined to a wheelchair or bed. The urinal is shaped so it stays in place without being held, is resistant to urine spillage, and can be comfortably used for hours at a time. The urinal includes a soft, clear plastic body with rounded edges, and is shaped so it fits close to the body of the user and under the thighs of the user. It thereby uses the pressure of the thighs of the user to hold it in place. The urinal has a concave front section, conforming with the male anatomy, allowing a closer and more comfortable fit for male users. The no-spill feature includes a platform portion which also serves to keep the male member above the opening in the receptacle portion of the urinal.

  • Patent number: 6581796
Abstract: A trash receptacle includes an upper rim, four sidewalls, and a lid. The trash receptacle includes a pair of recessed channel portions disposed in opposite sidewalls. A pair of handles are disposed in each of the channel portions. The channel portions each include a bottom channel wall and channel sidewalls. The lid also serves as a collar for the bottom of the trash receptacle 100. The interior of the channel portion has an upper, rounded portion which leads smoothly to the bottom channel wall. A label can be provided on the side of the trash receptacle. The structure of the trash receptacle serves to prevent development of a vacuum between the walls of the trash receptacle and the trash bags. The trash receptacle 100 is adapted to receive trash bags or plastic liners, and has improved resistance to formation of a vacuum between the walls of the trash receptacle and the trash bags.

  • Patent number: 6029295
Abstract: A pillow serving as a cervical support has a metal mesh material cover encasing a resilient padding material. The pillow has an annular shape, thus forming a ring-shaped body. The size of the body should be different, and may be varied, depending upon the age and size of the person using it. For example, a child will benefit from a pillow having a smaller size than would a full-sized adult. An object of the present invention is to provide a proper sleeping posture because of the ring shape, which tends to discourage sleeping in a face-down position.

  • Patent number: 4748592
Abstract: In a vacuum, recording is conducted by exposing a solid surface to a neutral particle beam or an ion beam modulated with a recording signal and converged, thereby to locally develop a change in composition on the solid surface. Then, reproducing is conducted by exposing said solid surface to an electron beam, an ion beam or a neutral particle beam which has been converged, thereby to emit electrons from the solid surface, and detecting the emitted electrons to read out the change in composition. If necessary, erasing is conducted by exposing the solid surface to the same beam as used in reproducing, thereby to eliminate the change in composition.

  • Patent number: 4746816
Abstract: Circuitry for detecting a pulse having a duration as short as 10 nanoseconds. The circuitry includes a storage device for storing the peak amplitude of the pulse. Signal resolution enhancement circuitry is responsive to the storage device for establishing a plurality of channels respectively corresponding to a plurality of signal amplitude ranges where the range of signal amplitudes for each successive range is larger than that of the range preceding it. Peak signal detecting circuitry is responsive to the signal resolution enhancement circuitry for (a) scanning the channels, (b) selecting one of the channels, the selected channel being such that the peak amplitude falls within the range for the channel, and (c) detecting the peak amplitude of the pulse.Probe 10 in FIG. 1, may be replaced by an electrostatic sensor, the high input impedance of amplifiers 16 and 18 of FIG. 1 is within range of standard electrostatic charge measurements, thus the invention becomes an electrostatic sensing device.

  • Patent number: 4744295
Abstract: A printing mechanism is described comprising a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which on their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought by turning the type carriers (12, 34) into a printing position. A setting means (32, 20, 24) including an actuating knob (32) can be brought into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) for rotation thereof. Stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110) limit the turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34). With a detent moment governed by their spring hardness resilient detent elements (96) hold the actuating knob (32) against a rotation relatively to the type carrier (12, 34) in drive connection with the setting means (32, 20, 24), the detent moment being greater than the torque necessary to rotate the type carriers (12, 34).
