    Abstract: A process for treating a dyed, velvet fabric is disclosed wherein two-toned color effects between the pile and the fabric backing are achieved. The preferred fabric comprises a cellulosic (cotton or rayon) or synthetic fiber weave backing dyed preferably with a non-disperse dye, e.g. a direct dye, and pile composed of cellulose acetate fibers dyed with a disperse dye. The dyed fabric is contacted with a dilute caustic solution, e.g., sodium hydroxide, for a period of time sufficient to at least partially or totally hydrolyze the cellulose acetate of the pile fiber, which noticeably also reduces the color intensity of the pile while having little effect on the color intensity of the backing. This is followed by rinsing, neutralization and conditioning of the treated fabric.

    Abstract: This invention is that of high temperature polyamides containing the hexafluoroisopropylidene group. The high temperature polyamides of the invention and photo or radiation sensitizers provide improved high temperature positive resists which can be developed in aqueous alkaline developer and thermally anneal to form heat resistant, polyoxazole relief structures suitable for use in microelectronic and printing applications. The positive photoresists of the invention have improved solubility in coating solvents and improved photospeed. The polyamides of the invention can be prepared by conventional condensation reactions; e.g. the condensation of a diamine and diacid chloride. In addition the polyamides of this invention provide high temperature protective coatings with superior adhesion properties in applications other than the photoresist area.

    Abstract: A fuel and water injection system for an internal combustion engine in which a computer calculates the minimum fuel requirements to meet power demand and the water injection requirements to achieve smooth operation without engine knock or pre-ignition; and triggers electronic injectors mounted in the intake manifold or adjacent to the cylinders to achieve those requirements. Fuel and water injectors are connected to constant-pressure fluid supply systems such that the rate of delivery of liquid to the inlet manifold or cylinder is based on the pulse width and pulse repetition rate of the signals sent from the computer. The fuel/air ratio ranges from the minimum requirement to support the combustion process to the maximum which can be burned cleanly and efficiently. Fuel injection rates within these limits are based on the operator's demand for power as represented by his positioning of the throttle plate using the accelerator.

Improved print quality, reduced tendency to wet the paper, faster ink drying and improved ink/water balance is thereby achieved.

The resultant film is found to possess markedly enhanced antistat properties, good clarity, good slip properties, reclaimability and adhesive properties at higher binder levels rendering it suitable for the application of other coatings.

The resultant primed polyester film is found to provide excellent adhesion to many organic solvent based coatings subsequently applied thereto, and to be reclaimable when reprocessed during the manufacture of polyester film without giving rise to significant or intolerable discoloration or degradation of the film.
