  • Patent number: 6494638
Abstract: There is provided herein a power drive adapter for a pencil sharpener or other manually rotatable tool which affixes a shank to the tool. In one embodiment this affixation includes a peripheral edge positioned on the tool and a shank attached to that edge. In another embodiment a holder member having a yolk of dual prongs is fitted with a power drive compatible shank. The inner surface of the prongs has grooves for engaging protruding edges positioned on the tool. As a result, the holder member securely grasps the manually rotatable tool (pencil sharpener) at one extremity and presents at its other extremity a shank for insertion into the chuck of the chosen electric drive.

  • Patent number: 6483729
Abstract: The invention relates to a slaved supply for slave element tied by a serial link to a master element. The slaved supply comprises a slave module for regulating the supply voltage comprising a module (1) for sampling and for detecting the peak value of the master digital output signals delivering a sampled peak value of the master output signals and a module (2) for slaving the slave supply voltage to a value substantially equal to that of the sampled peak value of the master output signals. The slave output signals delivered exhibit a peak amplitude matched to that of the master output signals. Application to the supply of master slave circuits in mobile or fixed telephony.

  • Patent number: 6470544
Abstract: In order to remove a plate made from a material that can be heated by electromagnetic induction and retained on a supporting member by a heat-fusible adhesive, an inductor is displaced facing at least one strip of the plate in order to heat the strip by induction and heat the adhesive by conduction until the adhesive softens, and a tearing tool is driven so as to tear out the heated strip by hot-peeling. The inductor and the tearing tool are displaced jointly relative to the plate and the supporting member by means of a mobile frame, which is displaced on a stationary frame on which the supporting member and the plate are fixed.

  • Patent number: 6468249
Abstract: A device for drawing blood includes a disposable holder (12) defining a socket (14) for receiving one end of a vacuum vial (18). The holder (12) includes an inner needle-receiving formation (26) and an outer needle-receiving formation (28), the inner and outer needle-receiving formations being in fluid communication with one another. A hollow needle (32) is connected to the inner needle-receiving formation (26) so as to extend into the socket (14) for puncturing a stopper (52) on the vacuum vial when the vial is inserted into the socket. The outer needle-receiving formation (28) carries a hypodermic needle (38) and a safety cover (42) for the hypodermic needle. The safety cover includes a cup (44) having an off-centre opening (46) through which the point of the needle (38) can pass, and a resilient member (48) for holding the cup over the point of the needle when the needle is inoperative so as to cover the point of the needle.

  • Patent number: 6464165
Abstract: An image display craft (10) for outdoor advertising. The craft is lighter than air, such as a dirigible airship (12), and has flat projection surfaces (16) on each of its sides. Variable static or moving images, such as advertising images or other messages, are projected onto the sides of the craft by projectors (30) which are positioned on booms (22) that extend laterally from the craft. As the airship moves around the sky the image is visible on the exterior of the craft to observers on the ground.

  • Patent number: 6447249
Abstract: On the folding-blade rotor, an outer radial length of an electric cable for connection between the hub and a blade has a part forming spare length and wound into an S-shape around two reels each mounted at the end of one of the two blade pins that connect the blade root to the cuff connecting the blade to the hub. The withdrawal of at least one pin with its reel releases a portion of the part forming spare length and allows the blade to be folded without disconnection at the ends of said electrical connecting cable.

  • Patent number: 6408672
Abstract: A process for cold forming the ends of metal tubes to reinforce same includes a die cavity into which the tube is placed. The die cavity includes a section with a recess having a greater diameter than the tube. The tube is placed such that a portion is left outside of the cavity and a mandrel is inserted into the tube. The mandrel includes a section that is adapted to bear against the portion of the tube outside of the cavity and to deform same. The deformation process results in the tube being folded upon itself within the recess in the cavity thereby forming a reinforcing flange at the end of the tube. The process is conducted without heating the tube.

  • Patent number: 6261492
Abstract: The essence of the method resides in that a recess (2) is made in the mounting surface, having the dimensions exceeding those of a chip (3). The chip (3) is gripped with a gripping member appearing as a tool (4) having a flat end and a capillary hole (5) flaring up towards the tool end, and is oriented above the recess (2). Before pressing the chip (3) into the recess (2) a dosed amount of a binder (6) is placed therein. The chip (3) is pressed into the binder (6) until the part of the flat end of the tool (4) which extends beyond the outlines of the chip (3) thrusts against the mounting surface. The pressing-in procedure is stopped as soon as the face surface of the chip (3) is coincided with the surface on which the recess (2) is made, whereupon the gripping tool is disengaged.
