Abstract: The present invention relates to a new board game in which the players shoot tops, Skelly Tops, around an air cushioned board having number 1-13. The players in this Objectional Air Skelly board game use their preferred top and try to eliminate their opponents game position while covering all 13 numbers, in sequence, and then retracing the numbers from 13 to 1 themselves, thereby becoming winners. This novel game can be played indoors or outdoors and can be played by anyone, from child to adult. Every play of this game is different and offers contestants a variety of challenges while increasing their own game skill.
Abstract: A nursery container that provides an improved root structure for plants intended to be transplanted into the ground. This container is characterized by a base that is constructed to direct initial root growth towards an elevated opening that is centrally located in the base. It is through this opening where initial root growth is air pruned thus encouraging the early development of secondary lateral roots. The base design also serves to aerate the growing medium in the center of the container thus aiding in the reduction of medium compacting and drainage. This container is also characterized by a plurality of vertical indentations that protrude towards the periphery of the container, each one being open at the bottom. Because of these indentations the root tips are encouraged to grow down towards the openings for air pruning thus continuing the development of lateral roots. The indentations also serve to aerate the growing medium in the sidewall area.
Abstract: An improved automated pipetting system for programmingly pipetting predetermined quantities of liquid between preselected groups of test tubes, vials or wells arranged on a horizontal table. A substantially rigid overhead frame mounted over the table on which the test tube arrays or the like are arranged. A pair of parallel X-axis guide shafts mounted in the rigid frame. A pair of helical screws rotatably mounted in the frame parallel to the pair of X-axis guide shafts. Each helical screw is driven by a stepper motor coaxially connected thereto. A pair of X-axis roller sections are movably mounted on the pair of X-axis guide shafts and support a Z-axis probe mechanism via a pair of Y-axis guide shafts and a parallel Y-axis helical screw. A stepper motor is drivingly and coaxially connected to the Y-axis screw for moving the Z-axis probe mechanism along the Y-axis guide shafts. The Z-axis probe mechanism is movably mounted on the pair of Y-axis guide shafts.
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the time-integrated volume specific activities of radon and thoron daughters without the participation of an operator during the measurement includes an air pump connected to a perpendicularly disposed pipe with plugged ends provided with two longitudinal rectangular orifices which are in contact with two endless aerosol filter bands which are rotated by a clock mechanism at periods of 1 hour and 12 hours respectively. Radiation detectors are disposed in seats of a cylindrical support while the latter is disposed within a protective housing.
