  • Patent number: 7065048
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, computer-readable medium and device for dynamically managing allocation of bandwidth in a packet network using a Dynamic Setting Scheme (DSS) for Class Based Queuing (CBQ). The method includes the steps of maintaining a minimized reserved portion of bandwidth to minimize delay jitter and maximizing a shared portion of bandwidth to maximize overall bandwidth utilization. Allocation of bandwidth may be based on a sharing tree hierarchical scheme that provides for temporary borrowing of bandwidth by real-time applications from bandwidth of non-real-time applications and blocks borrowing of bandwidth by non-real-time applications from bandwidth of real-time applications. DSS typically provides for using measurable parameters, such as queue length and number of borrowing attempts per a predetermined length of time/observation window, as control triggers for implementing adjustment of bandwidth allocation.

  • Patent number: 6686814
Abstract: A voltage tunable dielectric varactor includes a substrate having a low dielectric constant and having generally planar surface, a tunable ferroelectric layer positioned on the generally planar surface of the substrate, and first and second electrodes positioned on a surface of the tunable ferroelectric layer opposite the generally planar surface of the substrate. The first and second electrodes are separated to form a gap therebetween. The varactor includes an input for receiving a radio frequency signal and an output for delivering the radio frequency signal. A bias voltage applied to the electrodes changes the capacitance of the varactor between the input and output thereof. Phase shifters and filters that include the varactor are also described.

  • Patent number: 6681527
Abstract: A gutter protection system for diverting debris and collecting water in a trough of a gutter connected to a building structure is disclosed. The gutter protection system can include a cap that can be positionally fixed in place at a predetermined angle of inclination above the gutter by a support member or bracket. The bracket can be supported by and connected to a hanger that connects the gutter to the building structure. The cap can be spaced apart from the building structure, including a roof of the building structure.

  • Patent number: 6530904
Abstract: A medical injector apparatus is provided for carrying medications, for example epinephrine. The medical injector includes a safety guard, and a housing having a first casing portion and a second casing portion which are secured together to form a chamber therebetween. A pair of hinge portions provides pivoting motion of a safety guard. The pusher bar is not attached to the housing and is free to move within the chamber provided. A leaf spring is disposed between the stationary bar and the pusher bar to resiliently bias the pusher bar so as to be in a non-dispensing condition. The pusher bar is connected to a column which passes through an aperture in a stationary bar. The column is connected directly to a wedge-shaped member. A needle is secured to the wedge shaped member.

  • Patent number: 6514047
Abstract: A pump and methods for compressing a fluid are provided that comprise a pump head comprising a flexible metal diaphragm attached to a rigid compression chamber. Fluid compression is provided within the rigid compression chamber when the flexible diaphragm is mechanically oscillated back and forth by a linear motor operated at a drive frequency that is at or below the mechanical resonance of the moving parts, mechanical springs and gas springs. Tuned ports and valves allow low-pressure fluid to enter and high-pressure fluid to exit the compression chamber in response to the cyclic compressions. The linear resonance pump provides high frequency operation, small diaphragm displacements, and high compression ratios for gases.
