  • Patent number: 4693666
Abstract: A SCARA type robotic manipulator apparatus including a base supporting first and second independently operable drive motors, toothed belts engaging toothed gears for rotating primary and secondary arms in response to the first and second drive motors respectively, and adjustable bidirectional belt tensioning assemblies associated with the belts to preload the belts to provide stable, repeatable operation of the robot arms.

  • Patent number: 4571149
Abstract: A gantry type orthogonal axes manipulator system including a rack and pinion mechanical drive for the X and Y axis assemblies and a ball screw mechanical drive for the Z axis assembly employs closed loop DC servo electrical drives controlled by the conventional numerical control techniques.A rotary index feature permits horizontal rotation of the Y axis assembly, which supports the Z axis assembly, at the end of travel of the X axis assembly to service work zones on either side of the X axis assembly.

  • Patent number: 4558319
Abstract: In automatic assembly or processing operations employing multiple machines or robots, a signal preprocessor employing frequency and amplitude modulation techniques translates a plurality of monitored condition signals associated with each machine or robot into a composite audio signal. The time-varying composite audio signal represents a unique audio signature of the status of the assembly or process operation at any given time. This composite audio signal is available for analysis by an operator or an audio recognition system to detect variations in the composite audio signal which identify impending operational irregularities in the process being performed.

  • Patent number: 4005001
Abstract: A gaseous mixture of oxygen and fuel (combustibles) is supplied to first and second electrodes disposed on opposite surfaces of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte member wherein the electrodes are composed of different materials each exhibiting a different catalytic action on the gaseous mixture at a given temperature. The difference in oxygen potentials established at the respective electrodes as a result of the dissimilar catalytic action produces oxygen ion conductivity in the solid electrolyte cell which produces an electrical signal the magnitude of which is indicative of the combustible present in the mixture, i.e., methane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, etc.
