The selective element restricts the attachment of the second device to only one side of the first device. The blocking element prevents a third medical device from attaching to the first and second devices once the first and second devices are attached. The clamp restricts the attachment of the second device to only one side of the first device when the clamp is attached to a support member. The clamp permits slide-ratcheting axial movement of a clamp shaft.

    Abstract: A disposable assembly for use with a sensor assembly comprises a body, a flow restricting element, and a fluid pressure membrane. The body has a lid portion and a base portion. The body defines a fluid flow passage that forms an inlet and an outlet. The flow restricting element is positioned in the fluid flow passage between the inlet and the outlet. The membrane is located between the lid and base portions along the fluid flow passage. A reinforcing structure, such as a ring or a rigid disk, is positioned between the fluid pressure membrane and the lid portion to provide increased resistance to pressure in the fluid flow passage. The ring or disk can be a separate component or formed on the membrane. The membrane thickness adjacent to sensor access openings in the lid portion can be increased for pressure resistance, too.

    Abstract: A method and system for handling hazardous materials contained in a vial includes an isolation enclosure having an opening selectively sealable about the vial, a bag body portion, and a cap portion. A latching extraction element is attached to the cap portion and has a preceding engaging member to secure the vial to the isolation enclosure, an extraction member to be inserted into the vial and remove material therefrom, and a primary engaging member to secure the vial to the extraction member. A valve is mounted outside the isolation enclosure and controls the flow of fluid from the vial. An adaptor having a reseal member permits flow when coupled to the valve and restricts flow when uncoupled from the valve. Once uncoupled, the adaptor is removably associated with a second valve located remotely from the isolation enclosure, allowing fluid to pass into the second valve.

The algorithm defines a fluid delivery protocol that is applied in controlling the operation of the pump to achieve a desired rate, volume, and timing of the fluid infusion. Fluid is delivered by the pump when a plunger compresses an elastomeric membrane overlying a fluid chamber. Due to the small volume of the chamber, an incremental change in the plunger position before the delivery stroke produces a significant change in the delivery pressure. At the beginning of a pump cycle, the microprocessor determines the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet of the pump, and adjusts the plunger position before the delivery stroke to compensate for the differential pressure.

A method for making the anti-microbial filter (105) includes forming a filter membrane (213) on a substrate (211), forming holes (218) in the membrane (213) by providing a filter mask (215) and etching holes (218) through holes (222) in the mask (215). Then portions of the substrate (211) are removed from the filter membrane (213) using a masking and etching process to expose the holes (218). An anti-microbial coating is applied to the membrane (213) adjacent the holes (218).

    Abstract: A method and system for automated remote microbial air sampling includes a sampling enclosure positioned outside an isolator. An infeed sample receiver passes sample containers into the enclosure. An atrium is located within the enclosure and exposes containers to a gas sample. A remote sampling device collects the gas sample from the isolator and passes it to the atrium. A load arm is located within the enclosure. The load arm intermittently permits containers to enter the enclosure and moves containers to the atrium. An outfeed sample receiver passes containers out of the enclosure. The system allows addition and removal of containers from the air sampling system without interrupting the processing of the containers within the enclosure, and allows the first container supplied to the air sampling system to be the first exposed container removed therefrom.
