  • Patent number: 5460266
Abstract: A reusable plastic package for holding a rectangular article includes a housing having first and second rectangular-shaped storage compartments formed on opposite ends for selectively storing an article in one of the compartments. Each of the compartments has an access opening for inserting and removing the article into and out of the compartments. The longitudinal length and transverse width of the first compartment is substantially equal to the transverse width and longitudinal length, respectively, of the second compartment, thereby enabling the article to be stored in various orientations in the selected compartments. A lock compartment is formed between the storage compartments, and a slide plate is slidably mounted thereon and selectively movable across the access openings of the storage compartments between locked and unlocked positions for releasably securing the article in one of the storage compartments.

  • Patent number: 5443310
Abstract: A merchandising case adapted for displaying and storing cutter bits includes a cabinet, storage rack within the cabinet, a door movably mounted on the cabinet for concealing the storage rack, and a display rack mounted on the front of the door for holding the cutter bits on display. The display rack will retain a plurality of cutter bits on a display rack behind a transparent safety plate and above a display area. The display area has a plurality of individual receptacles, each receptacle retaining a plurality of chips each of which contains a die cut edge emulating the kerf profile created by a corresponding router bit positioned on the display rack, above the receptacle retaining the specific chip. A customer can remove one or more of the chips from the receptacle and compare it to the cutting edge of other cutter bits, or lay it against a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5441400
Abstract: An improved check valve assembly which is mounted on the front end of a feedscrew of an injection molding machine has a check ring which is slidably mounted on the shank of a retainer within the heated barrel of the molding machine. An annular-shaped flow gap is formed between the inner periphery of the check ring and retainer shank for feeding sleeves of heated material into a discharge chamber at the forward end of the barrel. The check ring is movable between a forward material feed position where it is engaged with a front valve seat and a rearward material blocking position where it is engaged with a rear valve seat. A compression coil spring is telescopically mounted on the retainer shank and is located within the annular-shaped flow gap and biases the check ring toward the material block position to provide a positive valve shut-off irrespective of the viscosity of the heated material.

  • Patent number: 5439225
Abstract: An exercise device adapted for use by a person, comprising:a first ring having a predetermined diameter, an inner surface, and an outer surface;a second ring concentric to the first ring and rotatably retained by the first ring;and components for providing isokinetic resistance to rotation of the second ring andfor sensing predetermined characteristics of said second ring during rotation and providing sensor signals corresponding to said sensed characteristics;whereby a person applying a torque in a first direction of rotation causes rotation of the second ring in the first direction of rotation against the isokinetic resistance and the sensing components in response to said rotation sense said predetermined characteristics which are subsequently converted into sensor signals.

  • Patent number: 5434338
Abstract: A process for conditioning waste materials containing at least one waste material plastic, includes the steps of mixing the waste material to form a homogenous plurality of particulate waste material members; and, blending the homogenous plurality of particulate waste material members with a thermosetting blend resin and a cross-linking catalyst to form a blend. The waste material plastic forms ionic bonds with the thermosetting blend resin. A filled plastic product according to the invention includes a thermosetting resin matrix, and a filler material having a plurality of particles containing at least one component selected from the group consisting of heavy metals and filler plastics. The filler resins are selected from the group consisting of thermosetting materials and thermoplastic materials, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 5433126
Abstract: A rotary controlled motion transmission assembly is mounted behind the dashboard of a vehicle and has a knob that extends through the dashboard for rotary actuation by an occupant of the vehicle to move a bulkhead door for controlling the environment within the vehicle. The knob is connected to a cam plate having first and second ramps which rotate upon rotation of the knob. A pair of spring biased plungers, each having a camming surface, operatively engage respective ramps. A pair of cables are connected to the plungers and extend along a circuitous path within flexible conduits to a receiver assembly, such that axial translation of the plungers upon rotation of the control knob, results in axial translation of the cables. The cables are connected to a pulley mounted on a shaft which is connected to the bulkhead door for opening and closing of the door.

  • Patent number: 5432967
Abstract: A multiple position, resilient support cushion, has a generally triangular shape and may be used in any of three positions to create a lying, sitting and in-between resting position, and which provides support for the head and body of the user when in any of these positions. The cushion has first, second and third support surfaces extending between parallel side surfaces. The first and second surfaces have generally continuous configurations, and the third surface has a multiple contour or stepped configuration. The third surface has a pair of generally equal length portions joined together by an inwardly extending intermediate portion which forms an intermediate corner. The second and third surfaces form a flexible triangular-shaped upper portion at their junction when the cushion is supported on its first surface, which upper portion positions the weight of the body over the second surface of the cushion rather than against it.

  • Patent number: 5423310
Abstract: A gas log burner assembly produces a glowing effect by providing a cover wall over the heretofore open top of a usual burner pan. A gas supply pipe is buried within a non-combustible porous medium, such as sand, within a gas distribution chamber formed by the walls of the burner pan. The cover wall has a series of gas outlet holes arranged across the plate including an elongated slot at an upper rear edge thereof. An artificial log is mounted on the top and rear of the burner pan and extends along the elongated slot and has a rough textured concave front surface. The slot and holes in the top cover wall and the concave surface of the log control and direct the flow of gas from the supply pipe into a combustion area formed in front of the log to provide controlled combustion of the gas within and adjacent to the concave front surface of the log to provide a glowing effect to the rough textured surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 5404689
Abstract: An anchor bolt sleeve for sliding over an anchor bolt to create a void therearound when concrete is being poured to secure the anchor bolt in the concrete. The sleeve has a one piece hollow body with a generally cylindrical sidewall joined at each end by a respective endwall. An annular boss extends outwardly from each endwall and has a reduced diameter from that of the body sidewall. A second boss extends outwardly from the center of the first boss and has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the first boss. An inner diameter of each of the bosses is sized to correspond to a predetermined outer diameter of a usual anchor bolt. An alternative embodiment provides a hollow sleeve body having rigid end portions joined by an intermediate section with a collapsible corrugated sidewall. The collapsible sidewall defined by a plurality of corrugations which extend horizontally around the section, enables the axial length of the sleeve to be easily adjusted in the field after being mounted on an anchor bolt.
