  • Patent number: 4096880
Abstract: A valve construction, particularly a three-way, two-position valve which may be used by itself to control fluid flow, or which may be used as a pilot valve to control operation of a larger valve. The valve comprises a cartridge which may be installed within or removed from the bore of a valve body as a unit. The cartridge unit comprises a valve plunger, a plurality of similar glands, and a plurality of similar separators carried by the plunger, with static seals on the glands and dynamic seals between separators, and a spring for urging the plunger to a predetermined position. The cartridge unit is held within a body bore by means of a cartridge nut which is threaded into one end of the bore. The nut has one end bearing against a separator at one end of the cartridge unit and presses a separator at the other end of the unit against a fixed abutment in the bore, so that axial movement of the plunger does not cause separation of the glands and separators.

  • Patent number: 4094408
Abstract: The improved pill container has an external shape simulating a fountain pen and includes the usual clip for securing the container within a pocket of a user. Construction-wise, the container includes a center section and two end sections. Each of the end sections is hollow and adapted to contain pills or medication of a certain type, and each end section has an open end which fits telescopically over a portion of the center section so that the end section is rotatably mounted. Cooperating projection and recess means are provided to yieldably retain each end section to the center section and to provide for step-by-step rotation of the end section. Indicating means are provided to visually indicate the rotated position of each end section. The center section blocks flow of pills from one end section to the other.

  • Patent number: 4093968
Abstract: A resistor with a heat sink, particularly adapted for use as a current limiter in an electrical system, such as a power transmission system. The resistor comprises a hollow tube formed of metal which offers resistance to the passage of electrical current, the tube being of a length sufficient to provide the electrical resistance for a given application. The heat sink comprises a material having a high specific heat, the material being contained within the tube and adapted to absorb heat generated by the resistance of the tube to passage of electrical current.

  • Patent number: 4084075
Abstract: Means for monitoring the energy used in flash welding operations wherein two signals are simultaneously fed to the input of a multiplier, one signal being substantially proportional to the welding current, and the other being substantially proportional to the welder transformer secondary voltage applied to the work. The output of the multiplier is fed to an integrating amplifier circuit and the output of the latter is fed to a level detector amplifier. Voltage changing means is used to change the sensing level of the level detector amplifier to in turn affect operation of indicating means to indicate the sensed level.

  • Patent number: 4067470
Abstract: The invention relates to vehicles which are particularly adapted for use in refuse collection, but may also have other uses, such as for self-loading of aggregates, or lifting and transportation of bulky objects. The body of the vehicle comprises a plurality of sections, one adapted to receive the material to be collected and to in turn deliver it to another body section. To unload the vehicle body, the said other body section is moved to cooperative relation with the said one body section so that the material flows through and outwardly of the latter.

  • Patent number: 4065134
Abstract: A needle assembly for a phonograph pickup cartridge wherein the pickup needle coupler and shank are movable relative to a drive member which is disposed between the needle shank and the mechanoelectric transducer means, to vary the position of the needle tip with respect to the cartridge drive member along the lonitudinal axis of the cartridge, and thus cause predetermined selectable changes in the needle lever ratio which in turn causes changes in compliance and output of the cartridge-needle assembly.

  • Patent number: 4065648
Abstract: An improved microphone structure having a ball screen enclosing the transducer. The microphone body or handle has an annular shoulder at its upper end to provide an upstanding externally threaded projection. The lower part of the ball screen has an opening to receive the upstanding handle projection, the peripheral portion of the screen at the opening being turned inwardly and adapted to be secured to an internally threaded base ring. The base ring is threaded on the handle projection to secure the ball screen in place.

  • Patent number: 4061361
Abstract: A suspension for a vehicle having wheel-supporting axles arranged in tandem. The suspension comprises a walking beam pivoted intermediate its ends to the frame of the vehicle. The axle support of one road engaging wheel is secured to one end of the walking beam, and the axle support of the other road engaging wheel is secured to a support arm which is mounted for pivotal movement relative to the walking beam. An air bag is interposed between the support arm and the opposite end of the walking beam. The walking beam provides for equalizing movement between the tandem axles and a cushioning member, such as an air bag and the like absorbs road shock during such equalizing movement.

  • Patent number: 4050175
Abstract: My invention provides a fully loaded device which is carried by a hunter in an easily accessible position for quick re-loading of a muzzle loading rifle. The device comprises a tubular member and removable end caps on opposite ends of the member. Removal of one end cap permits a patch and ball shot to be inserted into the open end of the tubular member. Replacement of such one end cap and removal of the other end permits powder to be poured into this open end of the tubular member. After replacement of said other end cap, the fully loaded device is adapted to be suspended by a neck sling. In order to quickly fire a second shot, the hunter grasps the tubular member with one hand and pulls downwardly thereon. This causes disengagement of said first end cap so that in the same motion the open end of the tubular member may be positioned over the end of the rifle barrel and in alignment with the barrel bore. Thereafter, a plunger is operated to push the patch and ball into the barrel bore.

  • Patent number: 4046116
Abstract: My invention relates to means for and methods of increasing the compression ratio of the cylinders of an overhead valve engine. The means comprises a small plate of metal which is attached to the top face of the piston head. The plates are provided in various sizes so that one size may be selected to increase the compression ratio a predetermined amount. The method comprises removal of the engine head with the overhead valves carried thereby, and the rotation of the crankshaft to bring the pistons in any desired order to substantially top dead center, and to attach the compression-increasing plate to the top face of a piston while it is at top dead center.
