Abstract: A process for the optical recording and storage of information in the form of bits by irradiating a recording material comprising a substrate coated with at least one layer of a pigment selected from the group of the dithiopyrrolopyrroles, dithioquinacridones, phthalocyanines or mixtures of several of these pigments as recording layer dotwise or linearly with laser light in the near infrared range (NIR range), which pigment (a) has a crystal modification having an absorption band in the NIR range, and (b) is in contact with a solid organic compound that changes the crystal modification of the pigment upon irradiation with laser light, so that (c) after irradiation the absorption in the NIR range is reduced, while the organic compound exhibits no absorption in the NIR range before and after irradiation.

Abstract: An increase in the molecular weight of newly produced polyamides and recycled polyamide materials can be achieved by heating to above the melting point or glass transition point and adding of a bismaleimide and a sterically hindered hydroxyphenyl-alkyl-phosphonic acid ester or half-ester.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel piperidine compounds of the formula (I) V5 V pV ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are as defined in the text. The compounds of the invention can be used as fight stabilizers, heat stabilizers and oxidation stabilizers for organic materials, in particular synthetic polymers.

Abstract: Use of an inorganic or organic zinc compound and a terminal epoxide compound, optionally with chalk, gives a high level of stabilization of PVC.

Abstract: The pigment form of the diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment of formula ##STR1## having high saturation, characterised by a chroma C*.sub.ab of at least 45 in the CIELAB system when incorporated in a plasticised PVC pressed sheet. This pigment has superior opacity and an unexpectedly high chroma.

Abstract: A photographic material is described which comprises, on a base, blue-sensitive, green-sensitive and/or red-sensitive silver-halide emulsion layers and if desired a protection layer, a layer containing a UV absorber being arranged between the uppermost silver-halide emulsion layer and the protection layer or on top of the uppermost silver-halide emulsion layer, wherein the UV absorber conforms to the formula ##STR1## in which the radicals R.sub.1 and R.sub.12 are as defined in claim 1.

Abstract: Pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrroles of formula ##STR1## wherein D and E are each independently of the other a group of formula ##STR2## The symbols Q, R.sub.8, R.sub.9, R.sub.10, R.sub.11, X, Y, Z, m and n are as defined in claim 1.These pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrroles are distinguished by outstanding solid state fluorescence in the UV range as well as by the ease with which they can be converted to pyrrolopyrrole pigments even in the substrate in which they are incorporated.

Abstract: Finely divided 1,4-diketopyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrroles of the formula ##STR1## where A and B are each independently of the other a radical of the formula ##STR2## wherein at least 84% by weight of the particles have a Stokes equivalent diameter of .ltoreq.0.25 .mu.m, and mixtures thereof.The substituents R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are defined in claim 1.These pigments are notable for a very pure hue and outstanding transparency.

Abstract: Light-stabilized polymer microparticles, which contain at least one light stabilizer, and processes for the preparation of these microparticles by polymerization of suitable monomers, at least a part of the polymerization being carried out in the presence of at least one light stabilizer, are described. The polymer microparticles can be used in coating compositions which comprise a disperse phase containing these particles and a liquid continuous phase.Coatings and finishes based on the compositions according to the invention are distinguished by improved weathering resistance, in particular by a high light stability.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, independently of one another, are phenyl which is unsubstituted or monosubstituted to tetrasubstituted by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and/or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, with the proviso that R.sub.1 is not decyl if R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are chlorine-substituted phenyl, are suitable for the photopolymerisation of compounds containing ethylenically unsaturated double bonds.

Abstract: Compositions comprising an organic material which is sensitive to thermal, oxidative and/or actinic degradation and at least one compound of the formula I ##STR1## in which Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 independently of one another are C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, phenyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl)phenyl andp is a number from 4 to 18,with the proviso that Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are not simultaneously tertiary alkyl radicals. Some of the compounds of the formula I are novel.The compounds of the formula I can also be employed as stabilizers as a mixture with compounds of the formula VI and/or of the formula VII ##STR2## in which n and the radicals R.sup.1, R .sup.1 ' and A are as defined in claims 14 and 15.
