A circumferential compression limiter is also located on an inside surface of the flapper valve. The flapper valve also includes a sealing bead located at the outer periphery thereof. The flapper valve is connected via the first and second assembly post to a cover that includes an orifice for venting of high pressure gas to the outer atmosphere while also repelling contaminants from entering the constant velocity joint.

The constant velocity joint has a shaft connected to the inner race and a pliable boot arranged between the outer race and the shaft. The constant velocity joint vent also includes a first axial channel on an inside surface of the body. A semi circumferential channel is in communication with the first axial channel on one end thereof also on the inside surface of the body. A second axial channel in communication with the semi circumferential channel on another end thereof. The vent also includes a diaphragm in communication with the second axial channel and the outer atmosphere. The vent will operate such that high pressure and high temperature gases are vented to the outer atmosphere while any contaminants or water are repelled from entering the constant velocity joint chamber.

In one aspect of the invention, the sealing member body includes a cylindrical body having an annular groove formed therein containing a seal for sealingly engaging the central passage. In another aspect of the invention, the interior surface includes an annular ridge and the diaphragm includes a curved portion engaging the annular wall and the annular ridge.

The wheel bearing part and the outer race are held in an assembled position by a spring ring engaged in the internal groove and the external groove. The first arm is substantially longer than the second arm and inclined such that the first arm extends approximately through a center axis of the spring ring. A sealing element is also included to seal the second bore.
