  • Patent number: 7006739
Abstract: A factory prepared fiber optic distribution cable has at least one predetermined access location for providing access to at least one pre-connectorized optical fiber. The fiber optic distribution cable includes at least one preterminated optical fiber withdrawn from a tubular body at the access location, a connector attached to the preterminated optical fiber, a transition piece for transitioning the preterminated optical fiber from the tubular body into a protective tube, and a protective shell encapsulating the access location for protecting the pre-connectorized optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 6926449
Abstract: A connector port is adapted for a (NID) to receive a connectorized optical fiber from inside the NID and a pre-connectorized drop cable from outside the NID. An exterior connector port includes a base positioned within an opening defined by an external wall of the NID, a mount on the base and a connector receptacle secured to the mount adjacent the external wall. An interior connector port includes an insert positioned within an opening defined by an external wall of the NID, a bracket mounted inside the NID and a connector receptacle secured to the bracket. A connector port also includes an insert positioned within an opening defined by a wall of the NID and a connector port secured to the insert. The connector port permits a field technician to readily connect, disconnect and reconfigure optical connections between the connectorized optical fiber and the pre-connectorized drop cable in the field.

  • Patent number: 6871360
Abstract: A head and neck restraint device for being worn by a driver while operating a high performance vehicle in which the device controls the driver's head from snapping forward and downwards during a frontal vehicular crash. The device includes a pair of anchor straps that are worn along the back of the driver. The straps are adapted for being connected to the driver's helmet and for being anchored to either the vehicle's seat belt assembly and/or to the driver's legs. The restraint device itself does not inhibit the driver from exiting the vehicle as exiting may occur after simply unlatching the vehicle's seat belt assembly. Moreover, since the restraint device is neither rigid nor bulky the driver may quickly exit the vehicle without being restricted by the device.

  • Patent number: 6835045
Abstract: A protector for protecting aircraft, particularly helicopter rotor blades, from absorbing the sun's infrared rays and the accompanying heat build-up in order to keep adhesive material between spar connections from debonding and to avoid delamination from the rotor blade's composite skin. The rotor blade protector includes a cover configured to encircle the length of the rotor blade and a guide form for installing and removing the cover. The inner surface of the cover is coated, by vacuum deposition technology, with aluminum, titanium, or other metals or alloys. The coating thickness will be in the order of 9-30 billionths of a meter thick. A stripper rod is attached to the guide so that aircraft personnel can install and remove the protector from the helicopter rotor blade while standing on the ground. Optionally, a series of ribs can be provided along the cover to provide increased air insulation around the rotor blade.

  • Patent number: 6810535
Abstract: A helmet restraint device for operationally securing a helmet worn by a driver, pilot, or occupant of a high-performance vehicle (such as a racecar, aircraft, or boat) to the vehicle's seat belt assembly. The helmet restraint device reduces potentially injurious forces to the occupant's head and neck during high-deceleration of the vehicle, particularly a frontal collision. The helmet restraint device includes a high strength, lightweight rod disposed behind and below the occupant's neck, just beneath the shoulder harness, and a strap that attaches between the occupant's helmet and the rod. The strap is connected to the helmet via attachments in the helmet and a cable assembly so as to allow the occupant's head to move freely from side to side.

  • Patent number: 6776417
Abstract: A disc golf target having an improved configuration for providing uniform, more consistent disc capture. The target includes a canopy assembly and a basket assembly attached to a center pole. A tripod base is used to support the target. A chain assembly is attached between the canopy and basket assemblies for absorbing kinetic energy from an incoming disc thereby capturing the disc. The chain assembly includes a continuous upper chain, attached to the canopy assembly and extending 360 degrees, a plurality of deflection members hanging from the upper chains, and a continuous lower chain functionally coupled to the lower end of said deflection members. The deflection members are attached to the canopy and basket assemblies in an alternating pattern in which a first deflection members are attached at the canopy assembly and adjacent second deflection members are attached at the basket assembly. The canopy and basket assemblies are quickly collapsible.
