  • Patent number: 6616996
Abstract: A novel composite microtubing with variable stiffness over the length of the tubing and continuous process for manufacturing the same is provided. By removing portions of one or more selected layers of the composite microtubing, varying the pick count of a braided layer, and changing the diameter over the length of the microtubing, the stiffness of the microtubing may be varied by a factor of 100 from proximal end to distal end. The continuous process allows a predetermined stiffness pattern to be repeated over a measured length for economical manufacture and results, if desired, in tubing of extremely small diameter and extremely thin tube walls.

  • Patent number: 6601788
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for creating rubber crumb from rubber vehicle tires. The method provides for the soaking of a vehicle tire in a solvent, removal of the tire from the solvent, movement of the tire by a conveyor to an apparatus that applies physical pressure to the tire, while situated upon a circular screen which allows the physical pressure applied to fragment the tire into its component parts, pressing the rubber components through the screen with any remaining liquid and allowing the non rubber components to be removed for recycling purposes or to be discarded. The apparatus applies physical pressure to separate the rubber and non rubber components from one another.

  • Patent number: 6550442
Abstract: A new mechanical movement consisting of a main stationary cylinder into which there is a rotary cylinder configured to rotate about a fixed rotor axis, and through which a certain number of vanes are anchored at the center of the main cylinder. The vanes slide in and out of the rotary cylinder by means of wigglets since the internal rotary cylinder is off-center of the main cylinder. As the internal cylinder rotates the space between two adjacent vanes increase or decrease creating a vacuum on one side of the main cylinder and a compression on the other side. This mechanism may be configured as a four cycle internal combustion engine, a steam engine high pressure water motor a compressor or a vacuum pump.

  • Patent number: 6513254
Abstract: A gauge for use in measuring, or evaluating, conical root canal gutta percha inserts has a body and a plurality of measuring locations. The measuring locations include a chute having first and second ends bounded by first and second walls and a floor. The first and second walls are portions of planes which meet at a first angle and a first distance between the first and second walls at the first end is greater than a second distance between the first and second walls at the second end. A standardized gutta percha cone may be received in the measuring location by placing the gutta percha cone in the chute and pushing it toward the second end to evaluate the taper and apex diameter of the gutta percha cone.
