  • Patent number: 8347692
Abstract: Method for rheological characterization of a viscoelastic medium, with the following steps: (a) an excitation step during which a vibratory excitation is generated in the viscoelastic medium leading to a deformation of the medium, (b) a deformation measurement step during which the deformation of the medium caused by the excitation is observed, (c) and a characterization step during which at least one non-zero power parameter y is determined such that a rheological parameter of the medium x is equal to x(f)=a+b·fy, where f is the frequency, a is a real number and b a non-zero scale parameter. It is thus possible to obtain mapping of the power parameter y.

  • Patent number: 8344948
Abstract: The described principles provide a method and system for calibrating an UWB RF positioning system. Means for automated calibration of the UWB RF positioning system allow calibration based on simple user input that does not require accuracy. Thus, the disclosed calibration means enables nomadic deployment of UWB RF positioning systems by enabling fast and easy calibration and re-calibration of the system based on in-use data to correct for changes in the system during use. Furthermore, in an embodiment of the invention, means are provided for direct feedback of calibration accuracy to the user. In a further embodiment of the invention, the full use of a UWB positioning system is enabled by obtaining optimal accuracy even at the outskirts of the tracking space and by providing optimal accuracy for a given number of receivers.

  • Patent number: 8342309
Abstract: There is provided a blind operating device for transmitting a rotation in both directions from an operation portion to a driving axis of the blind capable of making a diameter of a clutch spring smaller, and then capable of reducing operation load without breaking the clutch spring. The blind operating device includes an input shaft into which a rotation from a pulley is inputted, and a rotation axis that is provided coaxially with the input axis and is capable of transmitting the rotation to the driving axis. A clutch spring is wound around a fixed spring winding axis of a case and a rotation spring winding axis of the rotation axis. Linking and de-linking of the rotation axis and the case is made possible utilizing tightening and loosening of the clutch spring and one end of the clutch spring is linked to the rotation axis.

  • Patent number: 8342024
Abstract: A gyroscopic system supplies measurements on the basis of a vibratory gyroscope, which vibrates in a first vibration position and supplies a measurement signal. A periodic command signal is applied to it over a time period to cause the vibration geometrical position to turn a first way during one part of the time period, causing a change in accordance with a first speed profile from the first position to a second position; and to cause the vibration geometrical position to turn a second way opposite the first way during the other part of the time period, causing a change in accordance with a second speed profile from the second position to the first position. The speed profiles indicate a speed variation of the change of position. The measurements supplied by the system are then based on a corrected signal obtained by subtracting the command signal from the measurement signal supplied by the gyroscope.

  • Patent number: 8337673
Abstract: The invention relates to the synthesis of silicon-containing nanoparticles by laser pyrolysis. For this purpose: a precursor (SiH4) containing the element silicon is conveyed, by a transport fluid (He), into a pyrolysis reactor (REAC); laser radiation (LAS) is applied, in the reactor, to a mixture that the transport fluid and the precursor form; and silicon-containing nanoparticles (nP) are recovered at the exit of the reactor. In particular, the power of the laser radiation is controlled. Furthermore, the effective pulse duration is controlled within a laser firing period. Typically, for a power greater than 500 watts and a pulse duration greater than 40% of a laser firing period, nanoparticles having a crystalline structure with a size of less than or of the order of one nanometer are obtained at a rate greater than or of the order of 80 milligrams per hour. Under optimum conditions, a record rate of greater than 740 milligrams per hour was able to be obtained.

  • Patent number: 8341719
Abstract: Data packets are transmitted in a secure manner from an external network to a secure network. The secure network and the external network are interconnected via a firewall comprising a first interface with the external network and a second interface with the secure network. The firewall provides, over the second interface, a plurality of virtual interfaces. An association between items of specific information of the firewall and said virtual interfaces is stored in the firewall and in the secure network. It is determined whether to authorize the transmission of a packet received from the external network to the secure network on the basis of predefined security criteria. If the received packet is authorized, an item of specific information is selected to be transmitted to the secure network with the authorized packet. A virtual interface is then determined as a function of the item of specific information selected on the basis of the association.

  • Patent number: 8328538
Abstract: Piston assemblies for rocking piston compressors, diaphragm compressors and vacuum pumps wherein the overall mass of each piston assembly is identical to that of the other assembly despite having rod tops, retainers and diaphragms of different diameters and therefore different capacities. Each piston assembly includes a connecting rod connected to a rod top that supports a cup seal and a retainer or retainer plate. The mass of each rod is equal to that of the other rod despite the differing geometries. The mass of each retainer is the same as that of the other retainer despite the differing geometries. The overall length and stroke length of each piston assembly is the same. As a result, centers of gravity of the piston assemblies are continuously balanced on either side of the drive shaft in terms of distance from the drive shaft and in absolute value.
