Abstract: A strap for use on footwear. The strap is comprised of a sheet-like member partially split into two thinner sections. Typically, to the bottom surface of the lower section a VELCRO.RTM. pad is secured by stitching. The two sections are then rejoined permenantly, as by gluing and/or stitching. The result is a strap which has a joinder or fastening means on the underside thereof which is permanently attached to the strap, but whose top surface (the top surface of the first section) is more aesthetically pleasing.
Abstract: An armored vehicle having a stable, fast, relatively inexpensive retrofittable gun or weapon system including a retractable mounting platform which, in a lowered position, fits a weapon within the interior of the vehicle and, in a raised position, the gun or weapon above the roof of the vehicle, including a retractable platform and a remotely operated pan/tilt unit to control the position of a weapon into axes as the weapon is in a raised position above the roof of the car, which system includes a remote viewing system, a remote pan/tilt unit and a remote weapon activation system allowing the vehicle occupant to control the operation of the gun or weapon from within the vehicle while remotely aiming it.
Abstract: An exercise device comprises first and second members connected together by spring means so as to be movable towards each other by the application of a compressive force therebetween or to be movable away from each other by the application of a tensile force to said members. A sounder is provided on one member which, on contact with a striker surface on the other member, emits a warning sound. The striker surface is adjustable towards and away from said sounder so that the warning sound is emitted when a selected predetermined force is applied to the members.
Abstract: A breakaway guardrail post includes upper and lower post sections spaced apart but connected by a breakaway joint. The joint is attached at one end to the upper post by a first fastener set and connected at a second end by a second fastener set. The first fastener set has a failure strength less than that of the second fastener set. Upon impact forces being applied to the upper post section, the first fastener fails and the upper post section rotates downwardly.

Abstract: A farrier's stand of steel rod construction having an elliptical-shaped hoof cradle. A method for constructing the stand includes bending parallel, connected rods over a mandrel in a jig. The rods are separated between certain connections to form a hoof cradle. The inverted U-shaped stand is supported by a composite apex leg and two spaced-apart, singular rod legs.
Abstract: A conveyor apparatus having a conveyor chain and at least one supporting arm used for attaching thereto objects which are to be conveyed. The supporting arm has one of its ends connected to the conveyor chain via an overload protection means. The overload protection means has a tilting joint which is provided between the supporting arm and the conveyor chain and permitting reversible tilting of the supporting arm relative to the conveyor chain in response to a predetermined load. In the structural design of the conveyor apparatus the tilting joint is acted upon by a helical tension spring.
Abstract: A novel device and method for delivering a liquid containing an active ingredient to a treatment site on the skin is disclosed. The device is useful for treating lesions or abnormal skin features such as corns, warts, calluses, bunions, actinic keratoses and hard hyperkeratotic skin as is often found on the face, arms, legs or feet.

Abstract: A system for applying a liquid material to a roadway surface from a wheeled, motor-driven vehicle, the system comprising a tank for carrying a liquid material, a first spray bar for discharging the liquid material on to the roadway surface and a second spray bar for discharging the liquid material onto the roadway surface which was not covered by the discharge of the first spray bar. The system includes hydraulic motors and pumps for the first spray bar as well as hydraulic motors and pumps for the second spray bar, the second spray bar being independently controllable to apply liquid asphalt or other suitable material to the roadway at different rates than that liquid asphalt being applied by the first spray bar.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular window unit for an aircraft comprising a nonopaque lens and a reveal, the reveal joining the lens, as well as a shade comprising a multiplicity of discrete elongated panels, each panel cooperating with one another and being movable between an open and a closed position. The panels lay one next to the other to substantially cover the lens when the window shade is closed and, in an open position, lay stacked atop each other to substantially uncover the lens. Electric motors are provided for moving the panels of the shade between the open and closed positions.
Abstract: A humanoid toy figure having a body with a sticky region at the end of each limb that temporarily adhere to vertical surfaces and cause the body to tumble down the surface in a manner already well-known. The sticky region is connected to the body by a resilient tie that allows or causes the body to drop vertically due to the weight of the body stretching the tie . If there is no weight on the tie , the sticky region will be held against a remote end of the respective arm.
Abstract: The patient privacy gown, more particularly a patient privacy gown wherein the front has a slit opening beginning below the neckline and terminating above the hemline. The slit opening allows the patient to maintain modesty while allowing the doctor access to the patient's torso.
Abstract: A cutting device for segmenting and derinding a half section of citrus fruit in order to collect the pulp segments thereof comprises an open-top container to which an annular member fits. A plurality of slicers are supported by the member to form an upstanding cage. A semi-circular cutting blade is constrained and arranged to be turned by a handle through an arc which extends closely adjacent inner surfaces of the slicers. A half section of citrus fruit is pressed onto the cage in use, to segment the pulp, and the blade rotated through 180.degree. to cut away the pulp.
Abstract: A dental flosser has a bushing with a lateral pin that engages in a spiral groove in a sleeve that surrounds the bushing. The bushing is driven backwards and forwards by a shaft and this causes a flosser element base anchor to be rotated clockwise and counterclockwise, and moved backwards and forwards at the same time during use.
Abstract: A folder comprising an upper cover for a ring binder has a lip 13 which is arranged to fit into a normal ring binder press. The lip and a bundle of sheets can then be formed with slots to receive the ring binder in conventional manner. The lower cover 10 has a fold line 14 to allow it to remain free of the press and to wrap around the ring binder and cover the bundle of sheets. The folder itself has no holes in it and can be formed of virtually any material.
Abstract: A dispenser for paste products contained in compressible packages. A nozzle retaining member is attachable about the threaded neck of the package after the neck is extended through a hole in the base of the dispenser. The nozzle retaining member further engages two hooks on the external surface of the dispenser to hold the package in a properly aligned position.
Abstract: A process for the treatment of industrial waste water using electrocoagulation to effect separation of contaminants, which may include heavy metals, dyes, oils, fats, solvents, and salts. The process comprises passing waste water containing contaminants susceptible to electrocoagulation between pairs of electrodes within a reactor cell, energizing the electrodes with direct current, thereby breaking down and chemically altering contaminants in the electrolyzed water to form a sedimentable flocculate therein; and separating the flocculate from cleaned water. The invention also anticipates an apparatus for treating waste water which comprises: an electrocoagulation reactor cell having spaced-apart electrodes energized by direct current, a pump for passing industrial waste water through the reactor and between the electrodes, a de-foam tank, a mechanical clarifier, and a recessed-plate filter press.
