Abstract: Apparatus and method for heating and preventing freeze-off of wellhead equipment utilize radiant heat from a flameless heater to heat fluid in a heat exchanger, such as a tank or finned radiator. A pump is used to circulate the heated fluid through a conduit loop deployed in thermal contact with the equipment to be heated, such that the heat from the fluid is transferred to the equipment, maintaining it at sufficient temperature to prevent freeze-off. The apparatus and method may also be used for other purposes, such as for circulating heated fluid through a liquid-cooled engine to facilitate cold weather starting.
Abstract: A wheel-and-tire apparatus having at least two coaxially mounted tires is disclosed in which the diameters of one or more of the tires in the apparatus may be adjusted to select the tire or tires which are to be in contact with the road surface. The apparatus facilitates the selective use of tires having different performance characteristics, as may be desired or preferred to suit particular road conditions or vehicle operating conditions. The diameters of particular tires are increased or decreased as required to achieve a desired configuration of relative tire diameters, using tire diameter adjustment means such as one or more pneumatic pumps mounted in association with the apparatus. Sensors monitor selected operational parameters of the vehicle and transmit corresponding signals to a computer which selects an optimal tire configuration to suit the particular combination of operational parameters received from the sensors.
Abstract: A method of playing a mini-Baccarat type game is disclosed. The game is played using a playing surface and playing cards. Three cards are randomly dealt to each of a plurality of players and the dealer. The method includes multiple wager options, including the step of placement of a bet that the cumulative value of the three cards of one or more of the plurality of players will exceed the cumulative value of the three cards of the dealer. A game surface for playing the mini-Baccarat type game of the present invention is also disclosed.
Abstract: An encryption/decryption system for providing restricted use of each key in a plurality of keys to preserve confidentiality of the plurality of keys. Each key is usable by an associated user in a public key infrastructure to encrypt and decrypt data. The encryption/decryption system comprises a key storage means for storing a plurality of keys, user authentication means for determining whether a prospective user of a key in the plurality of keys is the associated user of the key, and an encryption/decryption means for encrypting and decrypting data using the plurality of keys when the user authentication means authenticates the prospective user. The encryption/decryption means is operable in a browser on a client computer.

Abstract: An antioxidant extracted from the bearberry plant (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), particularly for use as a food preservative, and a process of extracting it from the bearberry plant are disclosed. The process includes grinding the leaves of the bearberry, mixing the ground leaves with ethanol, shaking the resulting slurry, filtering the slurry, evaporating the supernatant to dryness and dechlorophyllyzing the resulting precipitate using a silicic acid column with hexane as the mobile phase and recovering the dechlorophyllyzed extract using ethanol as the mobile phase.

Abstract: A wheel-and-tire apparatus has a pneumatic tire with two or more circumferential tread sections, the relative diameters of which may be adjusted to select the tread sections in contact with the road. The tire may have one or more air chambers. The apparatus facilitates selective use of tire tread designs and compositions having different performance characteristics to suit particular road conditions and vehicle operating parameters. Adjustment of tread section diameters is accomplished using tread diameter adjustment means having a source of compressed air. Sensors monitor selected operational parameters of the vehicle and transmit corresponding signals to a computer, which selects an optimal configuration of tread section diameters to suit the data from the sensors. The computer sends a corresponding signal instructing the tread diameter adjustment means to adjust the diameter of one or more tread sections as required to achieve the selected configuration of tread section diameters.
Abstract: A one-handed knitting aid to facilitate hand knitting by persons without the full use of one hand comprises a needle holder with a magnet housing containing a source of a magnetic field, a yarn tensioning device, and an adjustable mounting. The magnet housing has a channel in which a knitting needle may be held by the magnetic field. The mounting may be attached to a convenient object, and may be adjusted so as to tilt or rotate the needle holder.
Abstract: A pressurized working environment for a pneumatic device which permits emission-free utilization of the potential mechanical energy of pressure differentials within compressed gas systems is disclosed. The pneumatic device is contained within a pressure vessel and the pneumatic device exhaust is in fluid communication with the interior of the pressure vessel. In use, the interior of the pressure vessel is in fluid communication with an area of lower pressure in the compressed gas system and the pneumatic device intake is in fluid communication with an area of higher pressure in the compressed gas system. In use, the gas from the area of higher pressure drives the pneumatic device and is then exhausted to the area of lower pressure.
