  • Patent number: 4497142
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bush ax sharpening holder that is adapted to receive and support a bush ax while the same is being sharpened. The bush ax sharpening holder includes an elongated main body structure in the form of a U-shaped channel with opposed open ends. Formed about one open end is a pair of elongated parallel slots. The slots are designed to receive the bush ax blade, and the main body structure is designed such that a handle receiving area is defined through a portion of the main body structure. A blade tightener is threaded into the lower portion of the main body structure and is adapted to be screwed into engagement with the bush ax blade so as to press the blade into a binding relationship with the slots. This serves to firmly hold the bush ax in place in order that the cutting edge thereof, which lies outside of the main body structure of the bush ax sharpening holder, can be sharpened.

  • Patent number: 4497355
Abstract: The present invention relates to a woodwork cutting device such as wood chisel or plane iron blade having a cutting end, one side with a beveled cutting edge formed about the cutting end thereof, and opposite back side, and two side edges. Provided about the back side of the woodwork cutting device is a plurality of transversely extending and longitudinally spaced grinding guides that extend generally parallel with respect to the beveled cutting edge. This allows an individual sharpening the woodwork cutting device of the present invention to maintain the cutting edge perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the blade. In addition, about at least one side edge of the blade portion of the woodwork cutting device is a series of grinding angle guides that extend in parallel relationship with the angle or plane of the beveled cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 4492039
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for drying and handling sludge. Sludge is conveyed or transferred into a rotary drying chamber that may be housed within a structure such as a solar drying structure. The rotary drying chamber is provided with a perforated side wall structure. As the rotary drying chamber is rotated, the action of the sludge within the drying chamber results in the sludge being transferred from the drying chamber through the side wall structure thereof. In particular, as the sludge is dried, the movement of the sludge within the drying chamber and particularly the impact of the sludge against the internal side wall structure of the drying chamber causes the sludge to be forced outwardly through the perforated side wall structure of the drying chamber in a spaghetti-like fashion. That is, the dried sludge is emitted through the side wall portion of the drying chamber in the form of relatively small spaghetti-like portions.

  • Patent number: 4485119
Abstract: The present invention entails an impact nutcracker having an electric gear drive for automatically and continuously cocking the nutcracker. A striker is movably mounted adjacent an impact nutcracking assembly, and the striker is movable between a cocked position and an impact position. Biasing means are attached to said striker for biasing the same toward said impact position. A gear, driven by an electric motor, is operative to drive and move the striker from said impact position to said cocked position at which point the gear is disengaged and the striker is released, and under the influence of said biasing means the striker moves back to said impact position where the same impacts against said impact nutcracking assembly.

  • Patent number: 4483114
Abstract: The present invention relates to a premanufactured corner framing structure adapted to be interposed between two angled framed wall sections to form a corner. In connecting the two framed wall sections, the corner frame structure is inserted vertically between the lower plate and upper plate structures of the respective wall sections. In the particular design disclosed herein, the premanufactured corner framing and support structure includes a plywood web with a pair of vertically extending flanges formed adjacent an inner edge of the web and a pair of vertically extending flanges formed adjacent an opposed outer edge of the web such that said flanges are generally aligned on each side of said plywood web and maintained in spaced apart relationship by the web itself. Consequently, it is appreciated that the corner load of the structure is carried by the flanges and the composite structure of the flanges and plywood web.

  • Patent number: 4479079
Abstract: The commutator of a DC motor is uniquely constructed to include at least one dead segment at least as wide as the associated brush (brushes). A silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) is arrranged in the circuit between the voltage source and said brush (brushes) to provide a switching means to automatically cut off current flow therethrough each time a brush passes over the dead segment. The current is reestablished by way of a gating means, which in the preferred embodiment is a variable frequency pulse generator.
