  • Patent number: 6948490
Abstract: A steam generator device has a first and a second chamber, and walls mutually isolating the two chambers. Reagents which react together to generate steam when in mutual contact are mutually separated by a barrier, and disposed in the first chamber. An opening member forms a first opening between the chambers and a second opening through the barrier. Hence the reagents come into contact via said second opening, the reagents react thereby generating steam, and the steam flows through the first opening into the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 6887704
Abstract: A cell population cultured ex-vivo in a culture medium under conditions permitting cells of the cell population to proliferate and, at the same time, reducing a capacity of the cells in utilizing cooper, the cells are hence expanded yet not further differentiated as compared to ex-vivo seeded cells from which the cell population developed.

  • Patent number: 6753545
Abstract: A method is provided for forming quantum holes of nanometer levels. In an ion beam scanner, ions are projected from an ion gun onto a semiconductor substrate. During the projection, ions are focused into an ion beam whose focal point is controlled to determine the diameter of the ion beam, and the ion beam is accelerated. When being incident upon the semiconductor substrate, the ion beam is deflected so as to form a plurality of quantum holes. Also provided is a light-emitting device with quantum dots. Impurities are doped onto a semiconductor substrate to form a P-type semiconductor layer on which a undoped, intrinsic semiconductor is grown to a certain thickness. A plurality of quantum holes are provided for the intrinsic semiconductor layer, followed by filling materials smaller in energy band gap than the intrinsic semiconductor in annealed quantum holes through recrystallization growth. Next, an N-type semiconductor layer is overlaid on the quantum hole layer.

  • Patent number: 6122287
Abstract: In order to transfer data via a switched network that provides a wide range of network services, the users must establish a circuit or network connection and establish a data link connection. The circuit or network connection provides the physical connection between the users and data link connection provides the protocols and procedures for the transfer of data. Because the network provides a wide range of services, the users, typically by prior agreement, designate a common data link protocol to facilitate the transfer of data. A data link connection will not be established if the users are not using the same data link protocol. A method and apparatus are disclosed which permit a local system to detect the data link protocol used by a remote system. The invention provides a method for detecting the data link protocol used by the remote system when the remote system initiates the data link setup and a method for detecting the data link protocol when the local system initiates the data link setup.
