  • Patent number: 5539482
Abstract: A diagnostic test for glaucoma, which can detect the early stages of this disease, uses a pattern electroretinogram of a subject to assess any reduction of the density of M.sub.y ganglion cells in a part of the subject's retina. The visual field of the eye of the subject is divided into a number of zones, and a respective visual stimulus signal is applied to each zone. The visual stimulus signals are generated in accordance with data obtained from determinations of the critical spatial frequency (Nyquist frequency) of persons with normal vision, obtained from observations of the "aliasing" phenomenon. Typical visual stimulus signals are grating patterns, with the contrast of the signal applied to each zone modulated with a different temporal frequency in the range of from 10 Hz to 45 Hz. Any differences between the electroretinogram response component for an individual zone and the expected response component for that zone indicates a change in the M.sub.

  • Patent number: 5495454
Abstract: A memory device comprises a plurality of memory cell array blocks (CAB1) each having at least one word line (WL11) and associated with a word line drive circuit (PD1a, WD1a, RD1), a block select circuit (BSa) for selectively outputting a block select signal (SL1s) corresponding to one of the memory cell array blocks, an address buffer (AB1a) for outputting word address signals (AddR1) to the memory cell array blocks wherein the word line drive circuit is associated with an address latch circuit (AL1a) which latches and continuously outputs one of the word address signals thereto, the block select signal activates the address latch circuit for latching one of the word address signals, the word line drive circuit continuously activates the word line according to an output signal (AL1aout) of the address latch circuit and deactivates the word line only when the block select signal (SL1s) corresponding to the memory cell array block is output from the block select circuit.

  • Patent number: 5328099
Abstract: A compressed gas device is disclosed for spraying a single dose of a fluid substance in finely divided form. The device comprises a tank containing the single dose having an inlet orifice for compressed gas, and an outlet orifice. The device further comprises a manually actuated gas pump having a gas supply communicating with the inlet orifice of the tank via an intermediate channel. The intermediate channel has a length of narrowed section that is closed in a sealed manner by a plug which is held in the narrowed section so that when the pressure of the gas supplied by the pump reaches a predetermined threshold, the plug is expelled towards the tank to open the intermediate channel. The device includes an abutment element to limit the displacement of the plug towards the outlet orifice of the tank of substance. The abutment element is constructed to guarantee that the compressed air can continue to floe through the outlet orifice when the plug is in its abutment position.
