Abstract: A fishing lure is provided comprising: an elongated longitudinally aligned main wire shaft having a front and a rear portion; a spinner revolveably supported on the front portion of the main wire shaft; a wire shaft extension extending from the main wire shaft between the front portion and the rear portion of the shaft at an acute angle pointed away from the spinner; a fishing line attachment loop for attachment of a fishing line at a front end of the main wire shaft; a rear hook attachment loop at a rear end of the main wire shaft with a rear hook attached thereto; a front hook attachment loop at a distal end of the wire shaft extension with a front hook attached thereto; and a creature bait secured to the rear portion of the main shaft by having the shaft extend through the creature bait.

Abstract: Valve with heated sealing gas suitable for use in a regenerative thermal oxidizer, and oxidizer including the switching valve. The valve of the present invention exhibits excellent sealing characteristics and minimizes wear. In a preferred embodiment, the valve utilizes hot gas from the regenerative process to heat gas for sealing the valve, and sealing air flows through a heat exchanger that is positioned to be in contact with hot exhaust gas from the regenerative process.

Abstract: Electric drive for a switching valve, the switching valve having such a drive, and a regenerative thermal oxidizer including the switching valve and drive system. The electric drive system allows for the starting and stopping of the rotation of a rotary valve with accurate positioning. The stopping of the valve includes dissipation of the kinetic energy of the valve by electric means. The valve is allowed to move vertically and oscillating rotary motion is possible. The drive system preferably includes a gear, gearbox, variable speed drive and at least one positioning sensor. Valve acceleration and deceleration can be carried out in a controlled fashion and with repeatability, so that the final end position of the valve is consistent. The accommodation of vertical movement of the valve is also within the scope of the present invention.

Abstract: This invention provides a thermal barrier ceramic coating for application to a metallic article, with the ceramic coating having a formula of NdxZr1-xOy with Z dissolved in, where 0<x<0.5 and 1.75<y<2 and wherein Z is an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of Y, Mg, Ca, Hf and mixtures thereof. In one embodiment Nd is added at a level up to 7 mole %. In another embodiment Z is yttrium and is added at a level of at least 6 wt %.

Abstract: A tool bit for facilitating the application of a cigar lighter socket to an apertured mounting plate in an automobile, comprising a driving member having a shank receivable in the chuck of a power tool, and a separate shouldered plug member carried by the driving member and having a portion receivable in the mouth of the cigar lighter socket for the purpose of rotatably driving the same. Threads at the rear of the socket are screwed into mating threads of a clamping shell which is usually hand-held at the rear of the panel. The driving member and plug member can rotate with respect to one another against the action of a spring-charged clutch or detent on the members. When the plug member is inserted into the socket mouth it becomes keyed to the socket and effects a rotation of the same as power is applied to the driving member. When the desired torque is reached, the clutch slips, thereby insuring against overtightening and possible damage to the parts.

Abstract: A process and apparatus are described for measuring the flow characteristics of a non-powdered material, e.g., a flushed pigment, and correlating them with actual production practice. The non-powdered material is placed into a cylinder having an orifice at its base, a piston with a known weight is placed on top of the material in the cylinder and after the orifice at the bottom of the cylinder is opened the distance traveled by the piston in a given time is measured and compared to the distance the piston travels with a known standard material.

Abstract: Paper coating compositions contain at least one pigment, at least one binder, and, as an insolubilizer for the binder, the product of the reaction of glyoxal and a vicinal polyol.

Abstract: An adjustable encoder includes a source generating a first signal and transmitting it to a transducer element for generating an electrical signal responsive to the first signal. An object is rotated between the source and the transducer element so as alternately to block and to permit or unblock the path of the first signal from its source to the transducer element. The transducer element and the source are simultaneously movable parallel to the plane of rotation of the rotatable object, so that the exact timing of interruption of the first signal can be adjusted while the encoder is in operation.
