  • Patent number: 6312505
Abstract: The present invention is a method for removing particulate matter and aerosols from a gas stream generated by gasification prior to the gas stream being used as fuel in an internal combustion device or as synthesis gas for subsequent processing. The present invention consists of first cooling the gas stream, then oil scrubbing it to further cool it and to remove particulates and some tars, and finally passing the gas stream through one or more vortex chambers to remove additional tars. Each vortex chamber employs a high-speed fan that forces the tar droplets against the interior wall of the vortex chamber where the tar coalesces and is removed.

  • Patent number: 6282845
Abstract: A liner for a rain gutter and the like comprises a sheet of rigid material which fits independently down inside a gutter underneath any cross-pieces to form an upper longitudinally extending barrier surface and a lower longitudinally extending liquid passageway. The horizontal plane of the liner is bent to form an angle with a short plane which rests against the bottom and front wall of the gutter and a long plane which rests against the upper portion of the rear wall of the utter. In this position, the liner sets above the bottom of the gutter at an angle that slopes down and away from the roof structure. The barrier surface of the liner has a plurality of openings sufficient in size to allow liquids to pass through to the lower passageway, but sufficiently small in size to restrict any solid debris from entering into the lower passageway. No tools or fasteners are required for installation and no attachments are made to either the gutter itself or roof structure.

  • Patent number: 6257583
Abstract: An economical reaction shooting target consisting of three targets movably secured to a frame that supports the targets above the ground. Initially, a central target that stands vertically is presented to the shooter. The central target pivotally attaches to the frame so that the central target falls backward once a bullet strikes it. When the central target falls backward, ears on the central target disengage arms provided on two spring loaded side targets, allowing the side targets to swing forward and be presented to the shooter. Various images of good guys and bad guys may be randomly chosen to be attached to the side targets, requiring the shooter to quickly determine whether to shoot the images on the side targets.

  • Patent number: 6245284
Abstract: A device for fabricating a tank head prior to attachment to a tank. A movable turntable of the invention holds the tank head horizontally on its rotatable top surface. The movable turntable travels on rails so that is can move the tank head under an overhead frame of the invention. The overhead frame is provided with frame rails on which a movable burner and a movable attachment holder independently travel so that they can be accurately positioned over the head. The movable burner can be lowered and raised in order to cut holes in the head at desired locations on the head. The movable attachment holder and an attachment that is removably secured to the attachment holder can also be lowered and raised in order to properly position the attachment relative to a hole in the head so that the attachment can be tack welded to the head.

  • Patent number: 6217406
Abstract: A wire skeleton for a soft sculptured doll comprised of a wire backbone member that extends into the head of the doll and secures within an upward extending sleeve of an inverted t-shaped connector and a unshaped wire that extends through the two sleeves in the horizontal portion of the t-shaped connector to form the leg members of the doll's skeleton. The unshaped wire freely rotates within the t-shaped connector, allowing the leg members to rotate in unison forward and backward on the doll. Also, backbone member and each of the leg members can be bent to pose the doll. Dolls are formed around the wire skeleton by padding the skeleton; placing covering material, such as leotards and lady's knee-high stockings, over the padding; and then securing the covering material together.

  • Patent number: 6190348
Abstract: A disposable applicator for implanting medicaments of various kinds into the human body without exposure of either the user or the recipient to pathogens of the other, and without exposure of either to latex rubber proteins. Differing variants may be sized variously for infants, children and adults, with various stop means for preventing insertion beyond a desired distance. In addition, other variants are particularly suited for use by untrained personnel or by persons with physical conditions which restrict their range of motion. A particularly preferred variant is sufficiently flexible so as to conform to body contours, thereby neither destroying nor irritating possibly sensitive skin tissue.

  • Patent number: 6186788
Abstract: A pair of dental burs for shaping mandibular teeth into the proper sloped configuration for lingual occlusion or denture teeth. The first bur is provided with a non-cutting central portion that is flanked by two slightly angled cutting surfaces, and the second bur is provided with a cutting central portion that is flanked by two slightly angled non-cutting surfaces. The angulation of the two cutting surfaces on the first bur may or may not match each other on a given set of burs, and the angulation of the two non-cutting surfaces on the second bur may or may not match each other on a given set of burs, but the angles of the cutting surfaces on the first bur match the angles of the non-cuffing surfaces on the second bur. The burs are used sequentially; i.e. the first bur is used first and the second bur is used second, to achieve the desired slope and center floss for the mandibular teeth without cutting too deeply.

  • Patent number: 6119286
Abstract: A device for causing bubble bath to form bubbles in bath water. The body of the device floats on the surface of bath water as the bathtub fills with water and sprays water downward onto the surface of the water as the body moves from side to side. A float mechanism that is provided in a lower portion of the body allows the body to float. The device is preferably formed into the shape of an animal or other friendly form. A flexible housing on one end of the device removably secures to a water faucet or tub spout. A flexible hose that attaches to the housing is coextensive with a conduit that runs through the floating body and attaches to a spray head provided on the body so that water from the faucet or spout is sprayed out the spray head. • Patent number: 6120073
Abstract: A device for gathering and lifting leaves that utilizes a specially designed pair of leaf scoops that are pivotally secured to each other in opposing orientation via their handles. Each of the leaf scoops is provided with a separate pivotal axis that extends through the handle of the leaf scoop. The leaf scoops are offset from each other so that the handles can be operated like the handles of a pair of scissors in order to open and close the heads of the leaf scoops relative to each other, thereby capturing leaves between the scoop heads so the leaves can be transported and so the leaves can be released when the leaves have been transported to the desired location. The device is provided with a central handle that attaches midway between the pivotal axes so that the user can grasp the central handle when lifting the device and the leaves.
