  • Patent number: 4070107
Abstract: A cine camera for taking talking pictures comprises a film-feeding mechanism which includes a driven capstan and a pinch roller normally spaced therefrom to facilitate insertion of a section of film therebetween when the camera casing is loaded with a sound-film cassette. A sensor, upon detecting the presence of such cassette in a receiving chamber of the casing, causes the pinch roller to move closer to the capstan, either via a mechanical linkage or by deactivating a detent normally blocking a displacement of the pinch roller under spring pressure. This displacement under the control of the sensor may establish a standby position, with the pinch roller still separated from the capstan by a clearance wider than the film thickness, that clearance being subsequently reduced by the operation of a trigger, a mode-selector switch or the like to clamp the film between pinch roller and capstan.

  • Patent number: 4067187
Abstract: A set of digital indicators in an electronic display unit of a timepiece are actuated by driving pulses transmitted thereto through respective stages of a multistage frequency divider. A switching mechanism is manually operable to advance certain of these stages, independently of the driving pulses and at a faster rate, to adjust the display. A timer discriminates between short-term and long-term switch reversals to differentiate between a gating signal, giving passage to a train of high-rate stepping pulses, and (a) selection signals identifying an indicator to be stepped or (b) manually produced pulses for adjustment at a slower rate.

  • Patent number: 4066345
Abstract: A cine camera for taking talking pictures comprises a film-feeding mechanism which includes a driven capstan and a pinch roller normally spaced therefrom to facilitate insertion of a section of film therebetween when the camera casing is loaded with a sound-film cassette. A trigger, serving to close a switch for energizing the film drive, becomes effective to move the pinch roller -- mechanically or electromagnetically -- into a working position close to the capstan after a support for this roller has been moved from a retracted position into a standby position by the displacement of an independently operable external actuating member. Continued depression of the trigger may prevent the roller support from returning to its retracted position even if the actuating member is released.

  • Patent number: 4058209
Abstract: A paper-clip dispenser has an upwardly open receptacle with a hole in its bottom through which a stem carrying a magnet passes. When the receptacle is lifted, the stem falls under its own weight or with the aid of a spring to bring the magnet of its upper end into a collection of paper clips at the bottom of the dispenser. When the dispenser is again placed upon the surface of a table or desk, the upper end of the stem is displaced upwardly to carry paper clips through the opening in the receptacle and enable them to be drawn off the magnet one at a time as required by the user.

  • Patent number: 4054017
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a bottle-shaped container, filled, sealed and dy for shipment, which comprises the steps of inserting a section of a thermoplastic synthetic tube into a divided blow mold with individually adjustable crown mold halves. The bottom part of the tube is then closed. Blow-molding, filling and sealing steps of the tube are performed in the mold in its still locked state to form the container. The crown mold halves are thereafter closed airtight at the head end by joining together after insertion of a tube section to be widened into the blow mold by applying a pressure medium. At least a section of the wall of the container is subjected by engagement to an outer pressure and pressed in the wall into the inner space of the container. By the excess pressure developed thereby in the inner space of the container, the wall of the head of the container is pressed against the wall of the mold of crown mold halves. This is a division of application Ser. No. 409,714 filed Oct. 25, 1973 , now U.S.

  • Patent number: 4050285
Abstract: An air-hydraulic blind-riveting tool has a chuck which is normally urged into a ready position by a spring and which is drawn into a retracted position by a fluid-operated piston connected via a hydraulic link to an air piston subdividing an air chamber of the tool into a front and a rear compartment. The front compartment is vented to the outside and the rear compartment is connectable via a trigger-operated valve to a source of compressed air. Thus when this rear compartment is pressurized the air piston is displaced forward and the working piston connected to the chuck is retracted. A valve is provided between the rear compartment and the atmosphere which comprises a valve disk displaceable by pressure in the rear compartment against a valve seat to prevent air from leaving the rear compartment but normally urged by a relatively stiff spring away from this valve seat.
