Abstract: A methodology, system and business model are disclosed for facilitating a fully automated buyer's auction in which the major types of transaction costs are significantly reduced by providing the buyer and the sellers with near-perfect information about one another, including information about buyer preferences and competing sellers' offers. The system implements a buyer's auction with multidimensional bidding that minimizes market intelligence, search, bargaining and transaction execution costs and thus creates more competitive, frictionless markets. Buyers and sellers can efficiently conduct the buyer's auction within a unified environment, thereby minimizing buyer integration costs as well. The buyer's auction generates commercially marketable proprietary information and a revenue stream for the auctioneer providing such a service.

Abstract: A telephone line terminator has a plug-in end to connect to a protector socket instead of the protector, which in turn is plugged in at a protector receptacle integrated with the terminator to provide continuous line protection while the terminator is connected to the telephone line. The terminator is dimensioned to fit in between adjacent protectors in a main frame. The terminator has circuitry powered by batteries to receive remote control signals for selectively ground connecting the wires. The batteries may be replaceable or rechargeable via voltage from the connected telephone line or via a separate charger that connects also via the plug-in end. A tone generator may provide a line tone and a warble tone in conjunction with several operation modes activated by a multi selecting push button.
Abstract: A method for determining a cylinder charge of an internal-combustion engine having valves with a variable valve gear, may include determining a maximum intake valve lift, calculating a standardized cylinder charge relative to at least one of a defined intake spread of an intake valve opening phase and a defined exhaust spread of an exhaust valve opening phase, as a function of the maximum intake valve lift, determining an overlap value, which characterizes an actual overlap of the intake valve opening phase and the exhaust valve opening phase, and determining a corrected cylinder charge based on the standardized cylinder charge and the overlap value.

Abstract: A method for controlling a variable valve apparatus of an internal combustion engine and a system thereof is disclosed. A method for controlling a variable valve apparatus of an internal combustion engine may include: setting a target cam phase corresponding to a current operation state of an engine received from a vehicle controller via a controller area network (CAN) bus; determining whether a deviation of the current cam phase from the target cam phase is greater than a predetermined deviation; calculating a proportion-integral-derivation (PID) sliding surface based on the target cam phase; calculating a control current for controlling a cam phase to move on the sliding surface in a case when the deviation is greater than the predetermined deviation; and operating the variable valve device so that the current cam phase can follow the target cam phase by converting the calculated control current to a driving duty ratio.

Abstract: A gear train of an automatic transmission realizes at least ten forward speeds and one reverse speed by combining four simple planetary gear sets with four clutches and two brakes. In addition, three friction elements are operated at each shift-speed. Therefore, the gear train has advantages of simplifying structures of the automatic transmission and improving power delivery performance and fuel economy.
Abstract: A knee bolster for vehicles, which is placed inside a lower instrument panel of a vehicle and is mounted to a cowl cross bar and relieves shock applied to knees of a passenger in case of an accident, may include a U-shaped bracket mounted to the cowl cross bar and bent to form a U-shape to be deformed by an external force during the accident, thus primarily absorbing knee load of the passenger, and a shock absorbing foam mounted in the U-shaped bracket, being deformed by the external force during the accident, and sliding along inner surface of the U-shaped bracket, thus secondarily absorbing the knee load of the passenger.

Abstract: A system and method for executing replication requests for objects in a distributed database is provided. A plurality of replication requests for objects in a distributed storage system is received. The replication requests are partitioned into one or more replication queues. A respective replication queue includes replication requests that have a respective replication key. The respective replication key includes information related to at least a respective source storage device at which a respective object is located and a respective destination storage device to which the respective object is to be replicated. For each respective replication queue, the replication requests in the replication queue are sorted based on priorities of the replication requests. Commands to execute a highest priority request are issued in each respective replication queue. When a respective replication request is completed, the respective replication request is deleted from the replication queue.
