  • Patent number: 8294306
Abstract: Methods and devices for balancing voltages of capacitors in an electronic circuit are provided. The device includes a chopper circuit having a chopper inductor. Further, the chopper circuit may detect voltages across capacitors as well as an output current of the electronic circuit. In addition, the device may include a chopper control unit receiving the output current then generating a signal representing charging of the chopper inductor based on the output current. Also, the chopper control unit may receive the voltages across the capacitors and detect an imbalance between the voltages based on a polarity of the output current. Additionally, the chopper control unit may transfer of charge between the two capacitors, using the chopper inductor. Further, the chopper inductor is substantially discharged, during the transfer of charge between the capacitors.

  • Patent number: 8286120
Abstract: Techniques are generally described for non-invasive, post-silicon characterization of—leakage power for devices of an integrated circuit (IC). A system of sparse leakage power equations may be developed for the devices (e.g. gates) within the IC to be solved using compressive sensing (CS) techniques. Input Vectors (IV) may be applied at input terminal of the IC, and power of the IC may be measured. The measurements may be used in conjunction with the set of sparse equations to determine leakage power values for individual devices, not directly accessible. Pre-processing and post-processing techniques may be employed to make the system of equations more sparse and further improve the efficiency of applying CS techniques to solve the equation. Example processing may include variable splitting, device grouping, IV and equation selection, measurement under elevated IC temperature, and bootstrapping. Other aspects may be disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8260067
Abstract: Techniques are generally described to determine whether a JPEG image has undergone two compressions. Probabilities can be computed for the first digits of quantized DCT (discrete cosine transform) coefficients from a set of AC (alternate current) modes to detect or determine whether the JPEG image has undergone two compressions. The set of AC modes may include a predetermined number of distinguishable AC modes where a distinguishable AC mode may be an AC mode in which a second quantization step (QS2) is not an integer multiple of the first quantization step (QS1). Classifiers may be created during a training process, and later may be used to assist in determining whether a suspect JPEG image has undergone two compressions. When the classifiers support a multi-classification system, described detection techniques may also be arranged to determine a primary quality factor for the double compressed JPEG image.

  • Patent number: 8255391
Abstract: A system and method for determining a ranking function for a search engine. A training data processor receives training data, the training data including at least a first page, a first label, a second page and a second label. A feature extraction processor receives the first page, identifies first features in the first page and calculates first values relating to the first features. The feature extraction processor receives the second page and identifies second features and calculates second values relating to the second features. A machine learning processor receives the first features, the first values, the first label, the second features, the second values, and the second label. The machine learning processor generates a ranking function based on first features, the first values, the first label, the second features, the second values, and the second label.

  • Patent number: 8238887
Abstract: A system and method for controlling output of content on a media rendering device. A mobile phone may be effective to receive a request for content where the content is from a content processor. The mobile phone may be effective to generate a command based on the request, the command including a URL, the URL including an address of a gateway processor and an identification of the content processor. The mobile phone may be effective to send the command to the media rendering device. The media rendering device may be effective to send a request to the gateway processor using the URL. The gateway processor may be effective to receive the content from the content processor and send the content to the media rendering device. The media rendering device may be effective to output the content.

  • Patent number: 8239405
Abstract: A system and method for filtering keywords. The method may include receiving a first set of keywords. The method may include determining a first set of numbers associated with a first metric relating to the first set of keywords and a second set of numbers associated with a second metric relating to the first set of keywords. The method may include receiving at least one metric rule relating to the first and the second metric. The method may include determining a respective combination number for each keyword in the first set of keywords based on the first set of numbers, the second set of numbers, and the metric rule. The method may include filtering the first set of keywords based on the respective combination numbers to produce a second set of keywords.
