  • Patent number: 8121018
Abstract: A signal transmitting method, a signal receiving method, and a signal receiving device are adapted to an OFDM system. In the signal transmitting method and signal receiving method, double asymmetric training symbols are used for performing time-varying channel response estimation. In the transmitting method, asymmetric pilot sub-carriers are added in data sub-carriers to form a plurality of first and second training symbols. The pilot symbols in the first and second training symbols are asymmetrically configured. In the receiving method, a channel response corresponding to each pilot sub-carrier is estimated by using two adjacent asymmetric pilot symbols. The received data sub-carrier is then restored through the channel response. Through the signal transmitting method and signal receiving method, even in a transmitter or a receiver moving at a high speed, more bandwidths can be used to transfer data, and contents of the transferred data can be correctly estimated.

  • Patent number: 8117368
Abstract: In a personal computing system function calls, formatted in 16-bit format for a 16-bit interface to the firmware, are communicated through an operating system providing a System Management Interrupt (SMI) interface to the firmware. An SMI function call in SMI format is generated and sent to an SMI Interface Wrapper module between the operating system and the firmware. The SMI function call is received over the SMI interface at the SMI Interface Wrapper. In the SMI Interface Wrapper, function data from the SMI function call is extracted to provide function call data. A 16-bit function call with the function call data is generated by the SMI Interface Wrapper and passed to the firmware.

  • Patent number: 8115407
Abstract: An address-free driving device and lighting fixture system are disclosed. The device is applied in controlling a lighting device, and includes a serial interface, a signal converter, a signal processor and a lighting driving unit. The signal converter converts an inputted signal from the serial interface into a digital signal. The signal processor then extracts a controlling data corresponding to the address-free driving device from the digital signal, and determines whether or not the inputted signal from the serial interface can be outputted to another address-free driving device. The lighting driving unit drives the lighting device to illuminate light based on the controlling data. Accordingly, when the lighting devices are electrically and serially connected, the address-free driving device then controls the lighting devices based on the order of series connection.

  • Patent number: 8107817
Abstract: A method for receiving an optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signal and a receiver thereof are applicable to an optical OFDM system. The receiving method includes the following steps. An optical signal is converted into a digital signal. A symbol boundary of the digital signal is estimated. A guard interval of the digital signal is removed according to the symbol boundary, so as to generate an electrical signal. The electrical signal is converted into a plurality of frequency domain sub-carriers in a fast Fourier transform (FFT) manner. A timing offset is estimated with pilot carriers and frequency domain sub-carriers corresponding to the same symbol period. The estimated symbol boundary is compensated with the timing offset. Each frequency domain sub-carrier includes a plurality of pilot carrier signals. Through the receiving method, the timing offset arisen from chromatic dispersion of an optical fiber is effectively estimated and adopted for compensation.
