Abstract: A target baffle bracket includes an elongate piece of material having a hanger portion and a backing portion. The backing portion is configured for attachment to adjoining metal plates so as to cover the joint between the plates. The hanger portion is configured for selectively engaging a cable. To facilitate adjustment in the height of the bracket, and thus the baffle which it helps form, the hanger portion includes cable receiving recesses which are disposed in a variety of vertical positions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for feeding flat objects overlapping in slats, particularly metal sheets, at least to a front edge stopper of a processing machine, particularly a tin printing machine or a tin-plate varnishing machine, with a first conveyor on which the objects lie.

Abstract: A thermoacoustic refrigerator having a relatively small size which utilizes one or more piezoelectric drivers to generate high frequency sound within a resonator at a frequency of between about 4000 Hz and ultrasonic frequencies. The interaction of the high frequency sound with one or more stacks create a temperature gradient across the stack which is conducted through a pair of heat exchangers located on opposite sides of each stack. The stack is comprised of an open-celled material that allows axial, radial, and azimuthal resonance modes of the resonator within the stack resulting in enhanced cooling power of the thermoacoustic refrigerator.

Abstract: A mobile lift system includes a platform configured for receiving a patient, an attachment rail which extends from the platform, and an attachment member for holding a belt to the attachment rail, and for selectively moving to point along the rail at which the belt is attached. The attachment rail can be removably attached to the platform, or may be pivotable with respect to the platform to facilitate storage and transport of the mobile lift system.

Abstract: A system for selectively detecting the presence of a plurality of objects in proximity to a person. The system includes a plulrality of child units each having a first communicating device (such as a transceiver) for sending a locator signal and for receiving a control signal. Further, the system includes a parent unit having a second communicating device for receiving the locator signal from at least one of the plurality of child units, a processor for monitoring the at least one child unit and for determining whether the child unit is within a preselected range, at least one alarm for signaling the person when the selected child unit is outside the preselected range, and controls for selectively controlling the child units to be monitored and for controlling activation of the child units.

Abstract: An arrow rest for an archery bow includes a mounting bracket for mounting to the riser of a bow, a shaft rotatably attached to the mounting bracket, a pair of arms configured for supporting the shaft of an arrow attached to the shaft, and a support member attached to said shaft for rotation therewith. A first magnet is attached to the mounting bracket and as second magnet is attached to the support member. The magnets are oriented to be attracted to one another to form a magnetic spring between the mounting bracket and the support member. The magnet spring holds the pair of arms in a first position for launching of an arrow from the bow but allow pivotal rotation of the arms upon launching of the arrow so that the arrow rest creates minimal drag on the shaft of the shaft of the arrow.

Abstract: An inhalation-activated inhalator having a primary inhalation passage and a secondary inhalation passage disposed in communication with the primary inhalation passage and a source of medicament. The primary inhalation passage has airflow inhibiting mechanism connected to a blocking plate positioned to selectively block fluid flow in the secondary inhalation passage. As the user's inhalation reaches a defined rate, the flow inhibiting mechanism restricts flow through the primary inhalation passage and moves the blocking plate to enable airflow through the secondary passage. Thus, as the user achieves a desired inhalation rate, the medicament is provided through the secondary inhalation passage, thereby optimizing the delivery of medicament to the lungs.

Abstract: A fixed pin bow sight is comprised of a bow sight having an attachment portion, a sight pin mounting portion and a sight pin having a plurality of sight tips on said sight pin. Each of the sight tips are predisposed on the sight pin and spaced to provide accurate targeting of an arrow shot from a bow having a particular shooting speed. The spacing between sight tips is defined by the desired targeting distances from the bow. For example, the uppermost sight tip may be configured for a target that is twenty yards away with subsequent sight tips provided for ten yard increments (e.g., 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards). The sight tips are configured to be vertically aligned relative to the ground when firing the bow so that as the distance from target is increased the appropriate sight tip moves from top to bottom of the sight pin.

Abstract: A spiral cervical retraction apparatus is provided to straighten out the canal to the uterus during a medical procedure which allows for placement of instruments into the cavity of the uterus such as artificial insemination devices, curettes, biopsy instruments, and radiologic devices to instill dye. The apparatus includes a rigid tube for traction assisted insertion and removal of instruments by a screw-like action. A spiral wire is secured to the tip of the device for insertion into the cervix of a patient. Preferably, the apparatus has a substantially rigid handle tor twisting the spiral tip.

Abstract: A bullet backstop assembly includes a modular support structure formed from legs, vertical ribs and horizontal ribs, and a modular inclined surface formed from a plurality of back panels. The back panels and the components of the support structure are attached to one another to form a bullet backstop assembly which may be assembled and disassembled without welding and with minimal use of tools.

Abstract: An optical sensor includes a sample cell through which a fluid flows, an optical sensor formed by an optical emitter and an optical detector. The sample cell and the optical sensor use light refraction to determine the presence and size of a bubble passing through the sample cell. A housing may also be included to provide better control over light refraction and to protect the optical sensor.

Abstract: A system and method for manufacturing a mid-grip high-powered pistol by modifying an existing rifle receiver, wherein a portion of the original trigger is removed, a new trigger is added in a position forward of the partially removed original trigger, and the new trigger is coupled to the remaining portion of the original trigger via an extension, wherein a recoil lug is added to the rifle receiver to handle the recoil, a plurality of different length barrels can be coupled to the new pistol, and a pivot pin diameter and location of a forearm lug prevent creation of an illegal rifle.

Abstract: An optical pressure monitoring system includes a tube from an infusion set and an optical signal sensor disposed to detect changes in the diameter of the tube and thereby determine pressure changes within the tube. By selecting the position of the tube relative to the optical signal emitter and optical signal receiver, the optical signal sensor can both detect pressure changes and provide an integrity check for both the functioning of the optical signal sensor and the placement of the tube. By modifying the tube to exaggerate changes in tube diameter responsive to pressure changes, the sensitivity of the optical signal sensor can be increased.

Abstract: An all weather protective cover for infants includes a cover which is configured for mounting on an infant carrier. The cover preferably has an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer. The inner layer forms mesh windows, while the outer layer selectively covers the windows. The cover also preferably includes a mechanism for holding toys in front of an infant to keep the infant entertained while within the cover.

Abstract: A process for modifying the surface of a solid substrate includes modifying the surface with at least one oxidizing flame and modifying the surface with at least one silicatising flame. The process is particularly beneficial in preparing glass and other surfaces for printing thereon.

Abstract: An improved roller for peristaltic pumps includes a central portion and a plurality of projections extending radially outwardly from the central portion. The projections enable use of a roller having a larger diameter, while ensuring that the tube carrying the solution is effectively pinched off. The larger diameter roller provides a greater moment arm and decreases current draw. The small projections used to accomplish the seal also severely deforms a smaller amount of tubing and thus requires less current draw.

Abstract: A grit classifier of the type used in a variety of industrial applications to separate grit or particulate matter from a feed slurry is disclosed, the grit classifier being unitarily-formed in one or two pieces of moldable plastic or plastic-like material which renders the grit classifier more easily and cost-effectively manufactured. The grit classifier of the present invention is also advantageously easy to transport to a site, thereby further reducing the costs of use. Also disclosed is an auger beating assembly for use in the unitarily-formed grit classifier tank of the present invention which is simply structured and adaptable to any screw auger type or size.
