Abstract: A packaging apparatus for erecting, filling and closing paperboard cartons of a type that are initially supplied in a flattened condition and have four body panels, lower closure flaps; and an open top, and a separate plastic cover. The packaging apparatus opens and erects the paperboard cartons in an inverted position and advances the cartons while inverted along a path past a filling station. Covers are fed to a position below the cartons and are pressed into the open ends of the cartons as they are advanced along the path and before they reach the filling station. The lower closure flaps are thereafter folded to close the cartons.

Abstract: A modular cabinet with mirror for use in beauty parlors having a generally chevron shaped counter top providing first and second counter top portions interconnected at one and end and extending at an obtuse angle to each other with a mirror mounted on one counter top portion and extending upwardly adjacent its rear edge at an angle of 120.degree. to the rear edge of the other counter top portion. Storage drawers are mounted below the other counter top portion for movement along a path paralleling the rear edge of the other countertop portion between a closed position and an end-out position in which part of the drawers extend outwardly of the end of the counter top.

Abstract: A caster apparatus of the type having a caster bracket mounted on a mounting base for swivel motion about an upright swivel axis and a caster wheel mounted on the caster bracket, in which the mounting base has a downwardly facing annular trackway spaced outwardly from the swivel axis, a roller is mounted on the caster bracket for rotation about an axis extending generally radially of the caster axis and in rolling engagement with the annular trackway, and pads are mounted on the caster bracket at a location to engage the annular trackway adjacent the roller to wipe the trackway in advance of the roller when the caster bracket swivels and to also dampen swivelling of the caster bracket about the caster axis.

Abstract: A mirror mounting bracket including a stationary bracket member adapted for attachment to a wall and a movable bracket member having an integral mirror engaging hook. The bracket members each have a generally rectangular body portion and guides along opposite sides of the body portions slidably supporting the movable bracket member on the stationary bracket member with the body portions laterally spaced apart to provide a cavity therebetween. A spring member is positioned in the cavity crosswise of the path of movement with end portions of the spring attached to one bracket member and an intermediate portion engaged by the other bracket member to progressively distend the spring member in response to relative movement between the bracket members. The stationary bracket member has a screw receiving aperture in the body portion and can be directly mounrted on a wall surface.

Abstract: An Oldham type coupling including first and second end coupling members rotatable about relative parallel axes and an intermediate coupling member. The intermediate coupling member is connected to the first end coupling member for relative translatory movement along a first path radially of the first end coupling member by a first set of rollers that transmit torque and by a second set of rollers that transmit end thrust between the intermediate and first end coupling member. The intermediate coupling member is connected to the second end coupling member for relative translatory movement along a second path radially of the second end coupling member and crosswise of the first path by a third set of rollers that transmit torque and by a fourth set of rollers arranged to transmit end thrust between the intermediate and second end coupling members.

Abstract: A portable power operated spray apparatus in which a generally cylindrical tank is supported on a saddle including a flat base and upstanding end plates shaped to receive the cylindrical side wall of the tank. Straps are welded to the end plates and extend around the tank and have upturned ends at the top of the tank spaced apart and connected by a tie bolt to provide carrying handles for the spray apparatus. An electric motor-pump unit is mounted on the base below the tank and arranged to be operated from a vehicle electrical power system to deliver chemicals from the tank through a flexible hose to a spray head.

Abstract: A tension controlled apparatus for feeding web material from a supply source to processing equipment of the type that exerts a pulling force on the web, the apparatus including a drive wheel and a driven wheel mounted for rotation about an axis parallel to the drive wheel and for shifting movement toward and away from the drive wheel, a web feed roller connected coaxially to the driven wheel for rotation thereby and means for guiding the web material to cause it to wrap part way around the web feed roller as it passes from the supply source to the processing equipment and exits from the web feed roller in an exiting direction having a substantial component in a direction to shift the driven wheel into driving engagement with the drive wheel in response to tension applied by the processing machine on the web of material exiting from the feed roller.

Abstract: A flexible strap type mounting device formed of one-piece resilient plastic and including a mounting base having an end wall at one end providing an item engaging abutment at one side of the end wall and a keeper flange at the other end of the end wall, a flexible strap integrally joined at one end to the end wall and arranged to form an item retaining loop outwardly of the abutment when the distal end of the strap overlies the keeper flange, and an elongated relatively rigid head integrally joined intermediate its ends to the distal end of the strap and provided with a nose portion at one end engageable with the keeper flange and a lever portion at its other end for moving the head relative to the strap between an open position in which the nose portion extends transverse to the distal end of the strap and a latch position in which the nose portion extends in underlying relation to the distal end of the strap.

Abstract: A polarity indicating and reversing unit for connecting a power supply line to a load line, the unit having a polarity indicating lamp for indicating a reverse polarity condition at the load and and a polarity reversing switch for reversing the polarity of the voltage applied to the load and to the polarity indicator so that the polarity indicator also indicates when the reversed polarity condition has been corrected. The application also discloses a polarity indicating and reversing unit for connecting two two-wire plus ground power supply lines each having a neutral and a hot inlet conductor to a single three-wire plus ground load line having a common neutral and two hot outlet conductors. The latter polarity reversing unit has a polarity indicator lamp for indicating when above ground potential is applied to the neutral outlet conductor, and two polarity reversing switches which are selectively operable to reverse polarity of the connections of either of the two inlet lines to the common outlet line.

Abstract: A freezer door for a soft-serve freezer in which the door has a valve cylinder and a valve member slidable in the cylinder. A valve actuator is pivotally supported in a pair of bearings at the front of the door and the valve actuator is formed in two parts, with a first actuator part comprising a first shaft member rotatably supported in one of the bearings and having an internally splined socket and a lateral valve engaging member at one end, and a second actuator part comprising a second shaft member rotatably supported in the other of the bearings and having an externally splined end portion at one end non-rotatably received in the socket in the first shaft member and a lateral handle at its other end. The first and second actuator parts can be reversibly mounted on the door for left or right hand operation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing and dispensing a semi-frozen food product containing liquid and gaseous ingredients including a refrigerated freezing chamber and volumetric type gas and liquid pumps operable when driven to pump gas and liquid in preselected proportions and under pressure to the freezing chamber. The gas and liquid pumps are motor driven under the control of a pressure responsive control which starts the pumps when the pressure in the freezing chamber falls below a predetermined super-atmospheric pressure range and stops the pumps when it rises above that predetermined super-atmospheric pressure range.

Abstract: A stock rack of the type used in tire plants for transporting tread forming blanks and wherein a plurality of trays are supported on end upright supports and one or more intermediate upright supports for swinging movement between a generally horizontal position and a raised position. Each tray has a plurality of axially aligned rolled rim sections along its rear edge, the rolled rim sections being dimensioned to extend between adjacent ones of the upright supports and having adjacent ends spaced apart to receive an intermediate upright support therebetween. The upright supports have hinge rod receiving openings at vertically spaced locations therealong and hinge rods extend through horizontally aligned ones of the hinge rod receiving openings in the upright end and intermediate supports and through the rolled rim sections on a respective one of the trays.

Abstract: A shelf apparatus including upper and lower shelves and upright shelf supports attached to the shelves and extending therebetween to support the shelves in fixed vertically spaced relation, and a removable door assembly including an upright door mounting member movably positioned between the upper and lower shelves alongside one of the shelf supports and having upper and lower shelf engaging abutments, at least one of which is manually adjustable to forcibly increase the spacing between the upper and lower shelf engaging abutments to jam the door mounting member vertically between the upper and lower shelves, and a door mounted on the door mounting member for movement relative thereto. The door can be hingedly mounted on the door mounting member for swinging movement relative thereto on an upright axis.

Abstract: A waste water treatment apparatus of the type in which a carriage support rail extends across the top of the tank intermediate the side walls of the tank and a carriage is mounted on the rail and driven by a carriage drive including an endless chain which reciprocates the carriage along the rail, and a tank cleaning head is mounted on the carriage for movement along a path adjacent the bottom of the tank. The carriage support rail is in the form of a box-shaped beam having inwardly directed flanges at its underside and the chain is mounted inside the box-shaped beam to be protectively enclosed in the beam and the carriage has wheel mounting portions extending upwardly into the beam at opposite sides of the chain and carriage support wheels mounted on the wheel mounting portions inside the beam and in rolling engagement with the flanges on the beam to support the carriage for movement therealong.

Abstract: A vehicle attached carrier for bicycles comprising spaced U-shaped side frames each formed with an arcuate intermediate portion and two straight leg portions extending from the ends of the arcuate intermediate portion, the side frames having a plurality of openings spaced apart along the arcuate intermediate portion in non-linear relation, and bicycle support frame including relatively parallel support arms having spaced openings adapted to register with different selected pairs of openings in the arcuate intermediate portion of the side frames to receive bolts for securing the arms to the side frames in different selected positions extending generally chordwise of the arcuate intermediate portion of the side frames.

Abstract: A machine for wrapping elongated articles of the type in which the machine advances a strip of wrapping material past a loading station, folds the strip into a tube around the articles and longitudinally seals the strip as it is advanced past a longitudinal sealing station, and thereafter transversely seals the tube between the articles and severs the tube to form separate packages.

Abstract: An ion exchange liquid treatment apparatus including a tank having an upwardly dished bottom wall and a distributor of the type having a central header and a plurality of distributor conduits extending outwardly from this header. Each distributor conduit is formed of a first straight conduit section that extends generally radially outwardly from the header and a second straight conduit section that is connected to the first conduit section by a pipe elbow whereby the second conduit section can be positioned oblique to a plane through the longitudinal axis of the tank and at a shallow angle to a plane perpendicular to the tank axis to generally conform to the contour of the dished bottom wall of the tank. Each of the second distributor conduit sections preferably have lateral conduits extending transverse thereto to achieve generally uniform liquid flow throughout the cross-section of the tank.

Abstract: A web aligning apparatus for use with multi-level web material such as carpeting, tufted fabrics and the like having a backing web and a pile on the backing web inwardly of a side edge of the backing web. The web aligning apparatus includes a pile engaging member mounted at a sensing location along the course of travel of the web for movement along a first path crosswise of the course of web travel and generally parallel to the face of the web at the sensing location to sense lateral deviations of the course of travel of the pile edge from a preselected position. The pile engaging member is also mounted for movement along a second arcuate path generally tangent to the web from a first position extending alongside the web backing at the sensing location toward a second position displaced along the arcuate path in the direction of travel of the web when the pile engaging member rides onto the pile.

Abstract: A hand tool for opening the tapered plastic dispensing tip on material dispensing cartridges which includes first and second lever members pivotally interconnected at one end and each having a handle with finger receiving openings at the other end to enable operation of the tool with one hand, one lever member having a blade portion intermediate its ends formed with a plurality of openings of relatively different size corresponding to the external cross-section of the tapered tip at different locations therealong, and the other of the lever members having a sharpened blade adapted to shear off a portion of the tapered dispensing tip when it is inserted through one of the openings. A probe is provided on the tool adapted for insertion through the dispensing tip to rupture the seal in the cartridge.

Abstract: A safety latch for inward swinging doors, including a strap having a hook at one end extending laterally from one side for engaging the keeper on the door frame and an abutment extending laterally from the other side, and a wedge member having a pair of relatively diverging edges adapted to be positioned with one diverging edge engaging the abutment on the strap and the other diverging edge engaging the inside of the door to wedge lock the door in a closed position. A flexible member is provided for connecting the strap to the handle on the door to laterally stabilize the strap.
