  • Patent number: 4534274
Abstract: In connection with a plunger piston for internal combustion engines, the connecting rod, which is hinged thereto via a gudgeon pin, is laterally guided at its small end by being in abutting contact with the internal faces of the gudgeon pin bosses. For this purpose, there are provided, only in the zone at the level of the gudgeon pin axis, limited contact surfaces between the connecting rod small end and the gudgeon pin bosses. By this means, the influence of deformations of the piston on the guidance of the connecting rod is eliminated to a very large extent.

  • Patent number: 4532905
Abstract: A fuel injection valve is provided upstream of a branch-off part of a branched off intake passage, the downstream ends of the branched off passages being connected to a plurality of cylinders of an engine. The fuel injection timing of the injection valve is controlled by a pulse controller. The pulse controller operates to control the pulse timing basically according to the intake air flow and the crank angle of the crank shaft of the engine, and further corrects the timing according to the air fuel ratio difference between cylinders whose intake strokes are adjacent to each other. The correction rate of the timing may be changed according to the degree of the engine load and/or the engine temperature. By the correction of the timing, the air fuel mixture in rich cylinders is partly inhaled into lean cylinders so that the air fuel ratios of the cylinders may be equalized.

  • Patent number: 4533468
Abstract: A method of separating lighter and heavier particles in a solids mixture includes entraining the mixture in a liquid of a specific gravity intermediate the specific gravities of the lighter and heavier particles, and feeding the liquid through a first opening into one end of a rotating vessel. The vessel is designed so that the liquid attains a dynamic equilibrium at which an annular, centrifugally-induced, substantially static, revolving volume of the liquid of stable internal surface is confined by the vessel about the axis of rotation, while further liquid flows on within the stable internal surface. Heavier particles are centrifugally directed into the annular volume, while lighter particles remain entrained in on-flowing liquid which flows out a second opening in the other end of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4532429
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for detecting the leading edge of a sheet which is on the way to the scanning-and-reading station of an image read-out system. Detection is performed by exposing, just ahead of the scanning-and-reading station, the traveling sheet to the same scanning beam of light as used at the scanning-and-reading station, and by detecting the sudden change in the amount of reflection on arrival of the sheet at the station due to the difference between the reflection coefficients of the sheet and the underlying conveyer belt. Preferably, the scanning for detecting the leading edge of the sheet is at a higher frequency and smaller amplitude than the scanning for reading an image on the sheet.

  • Patent number: RE31957
Abstract: A pneumatic-hydraulic blind riveting tool comprises on the one hand a hydraulic working piston (25) in a hydraulic cylinder (27) cooperating with a chuck, and on the other hand a pneumatic power piston device (50) in an air cylinder (51) adapted to produce a working pressure in the hydraulic medium by means of a plunger (49). The working piston is adapted to be fed forwards in the hydraulic cylinder a number of steps during each working cycle, and means are provided to cause the power piston device to execute a corresponding number of stroke cycles, each of which includes a forward and return piston stroke. The working piston is adapted to be fed forward one step on each piston stroke. A valve (31) in a plunger passage (29) prevents hydraulic medium from retreating in the plunger passage during the return movement of the plunger. Instead, the plunger passage is filled with hydraulic medium from a reservoir (69) during the backward movement.
