Patent number: 4534274Abstract: In connection with a plunger piston for internal combustion engines, the connecting rod, which is hinged thereto via a gudgeon pin, is laterally guided at its small end by being in abutting contact with the internal faces of the gudgeon pin bosses. For this purpose, there are provided, only in the zone at the level of the gudgeon pin axis, limited contact surfaces between the connecting rod small end and the gudgeon pin bosses. By this means, the influence of deformations of the piston on the guidance of the connecting rod is eliminated to a very large extent.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Mahle GmbHInventors: Emil Ripberger, Gotthard Stuska

Patent number: 4532905Abstract: A fuel injection valve is provided upstream of a branch-off part of a branched off intake passage, the downstream ends of the branched off passages being connected to a plurality of cylinders of an engine. The fuel injection timing of the injection valve is controlled by a pulse controller. The pulse controller operates to control the pulse timing basically according to the intake air flow and the crank angle of the crank shaft of the engine, and further corrects the timing according to the air fuel ratio difference between cylinders whose intake strokes are adjacent to each other. The correction rate of the timing may be changed according to the degree of the engine load and/or the engine temperature. By the correction of the timing, the air fuel mixture in rich cylinders is partly inhaled into lean cylinders so that the air fuel ratios of the cylinders may be equalized.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1984Date of Patent: August 6, 1985Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Katsuhiko Yokooku, Tadashi Kaneko, Tadataka Nakazumi

Patent number: 4533468Abstract: A method of separating lighter and heavier particles in a solids mixture includes entraining the mixture in a liquid of a specific gravity intermediate the specific gravities of the lighter and heavier particles, and feeding the liquid through a first opening into one end of a rotating vessel. The vessel is designed so that the liquid attains a dynamic equilibrium at which an annular, centrifugally-induced, substantially static, revolving volume of the liquid of stable internal surface is confined by the vessel about the axis of rotation, while further liquid flows on within the stable internal surface. Heavier particles are centrifugally directed into the annular volume, while lighter particles remain entrained in on-flowing liquid which flows out a second opening in the other end of the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1983Date of Patent: August 6, 1985Assignee: The Broken Hill Proprietary Company LimitedInventors: Paul M. Patent number: 4532429Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for detecting the leading edge of a sheet which is on the way to the scanning-and-reading station of an image read-out system. Detection is performed by exposing, just ahead of the scanning-and-reading station, the traveling sheet to the same scanning beam of light as used at the scanning-and-reading station, and by detecting the sudden change in the amount of reflection on arrival of the sheet at the station due to the difference between the reflection coefficients of the sheet and the underlying conveyer belt. Preferably, the scanning for detecting the leading edge of the sheet is at a higher frequency and smaller amplitude than the scanning for reading an image on the sheet.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1982Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kazuo Horikawa
