Patent number: 6036469Abstract: A quick change system and method of interchanging molds on plastic extrusion blow molding machines is disclosed wherein a universal standard subplate is provided for use with different blow molding machines on which a variety of different mold units are removably mounted on the standard subplate with the subplate establishing a preselected precisely aligned relation automatically between the mold unit and a machine platen. A quick release locking device is provided between each mold unit and a unitary standard water manifold and detabber assembly. The unitary standard assembly is provided as a one-piece component with fluid connections communicating respectively with water and air supply sources of the water manifold and detabber and which are conveniently maintained attached without being disconnected during detachment of the unitary standard assembly from the mold unit during a mold change.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: Heise Industries, Inc.Inventors: John Wade Allen, Brooks B. Patent number: 6026545Abstract: A universal one piece restraint bracket particularly suited for use with wire rope or cable for transverse, longitudinal and combined transverse and longitudinal seismic bracing systems for supporting an object. The bracket is generally L shaped to define a flattened apertured central portion with two wing portions generally at right angles to each other, apertured at their free ends and joined to the flattened central portion, each wing being elevated or upwardly bent away from the plane of the central portion. Aircraft type cables or wire rope connect the bracket to an adjacent support structure with the central portion of the bracket being secured to an object to be supported, whereby the bracing system acts in tension only so as to dampen earthquake loads and forces and thus is not subject to compression loads. A single bracket accommodates a wide variety of seismic bracing, and the bracket is configured for stacking with another bracket where necessary.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1999Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: Loos & Co., Inc.Inventor: Daniel Duggan

Patent number: 5913647Abstract: A mechanical sensor for use with bolts, nuts, eye bolts and other fasteners is provided to sense fastener tension and to mechanically indicate that tension and changes therein by mechanically measuring deformation of the substrate being clamped by the fastener relative to the distortion or lack thereof in the substrate immediately adjacent the deformed substrate. The differential substrate deformation produces measurable and often clearly visible movement of a portion of the sensor. Such movement may be interrogated through utilization of visual, optical, electro-optical means as desired.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1996Date of Patent: June 22, 1999Assignee: Structural Integrity Monitoring Systems, Inc.Inventor: Malcolm H. Patent number: 5798911Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic light system (ALS) for motor vehicles of all types. According to the invention the headlamp system is operated in such a manner that at every instant of the journey the minimum beam range does not drop below the instantaneous stopping distance (=braking distance+reaction distance) of the vehicle and the particular light intensity required is determined and set. This can be done for example by vertical pivoting of the headlamps or reflectors. Furthermore, the beam direction is adapted to the instantaneous steering angle.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1995Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignee: Ante JosicInventor: Ante Josic

Patent number: 5760952Abstract: An illuminating device for a surgical microscope, which device has a light source arranged outside the observing beam path, a first deflector for light arranged between the light source and the observing beam path of the microscope, and a second deflector for light arranged closer to the observing beam path than the first deflector, is distinguished in that the first deflector comprises two deflecting elements of which one is fixed and the other is movable, and of which the deflecting element arranged closer to the observed object is also provided with a deflecting device on its side averted from the light source for directing light from the other deflecting element to the second deflector.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1997Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: J.D. Patent number: 5722807Abstract: A method and device for monitoring fastener loads as well as clamp loads imposed on base metal with a special washer usable with bolt heads, nuts, and other fastener elements which washer has at least one integral arm whose position is indicative of fastener load as determined by the phenomenon of dishing of the base metal and washer.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Assignee: Structural Integrity MonitoringInventor: Malcolm H. Patent number: 5722585Abstract: The invention relates to a folding box with self-adhesive seal and a method for sealing the folding box. The folding box has a cover (6) which can be locked in the sealing position at one of its free edges by a mechanical locking (10, 11), flaps (14, 15) that can be folded in under the cover, and contact adhesive strips (17) with covering strips (19) able to be pulled off, for gluing the cover (6) together with the flaps (14, 15). The covering strips (19) have at their free end a tab (19a) that protrudes from the closed folding box. By pulling on the tab (19a), the covering strips (19) can be pulled out laterally under the cover (6) locked in sealing position, in order to glue the cover (6) together with the flaps (14, 15). On perforated tear lines (23), the middle section of the cover (6) can be opened again, without having to undo the adhesive connection in doing so.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Assignee: Hermann M.
