Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved insert machine for inserting flat material into an open pocket and, more particularly, to a straight line insert machine employed for printed matter such as newspapers. The machine includes an all-electronic control system for controlling machine functions. The control system includes at least one central control computer running under software control and a plurality of network controllers, all coupled together via a controller area network (CAN) bus. Electronic control messages for controlling machine elements are sent among the computers and controllers using a novel message protocol to enable both broadcast messages and individual messages to be employed.

Abstract: A dispersion powder composition based on water-insoluble polymers with particularly low water absorption comprises, based on the total weight of the polymer, an amount in the range from 0.1 to 30% by weight of at least one carboxylic ester whose acid component has at least 6 carbon atoms and whose alcohol component is a polyhydroxy compound, preferably glycerol, diglycerol, or triglycerol. This is prepared by mixing polymer and protective colloid with the carboxylic ester to prepare a dispersion and then, where appropriate, drying this with simultaneous admixing of an anticaking agent, and gives good results when used for modifying wallpaper pastes, mortars, or concrete.

Abstract: A sheet finishing method in which a sheet delivered from an image forming apparatus main body is conveyed and stacked on a sheet placement table, and the stacked sheets are positioned and aligned, and then folded by a folding means composed of a paired folding rollers and a folding plate. The sheet finishing method is controlled such that a rotation motion of the paired folding rollers is switched between a state to be rotated along with an advancing motion of the folding plate and a state to be stopped in accordance with the number of sheets stacked on the sheet placement table.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for clearing an immobilized and or derailed suspended coach is described. The suspended coach forms part of a suspended coach transportation system in which suspended coaches suspended from a suspender beam fitted to a conventional rail bogie with wheel sets moves on rail fitted in a concrete box guide way. The method and apparatus involves extending the suspender beam to make it longer than the coach body and providing the ends of the suspender beams with n extensor and lifting mechanism for permitting an assisting mobile coach to use its suspender beam to lift an immobilized coach at its suspender beam and carry or push the immobilized coach for clearance. A method of clearing an immobile or derailed suspended coach in a suspended coach transportation system is also disclosed.
