  • Patent number: 8055186
Abstract: The invention reduces the time needed for an automatic channel search on a device receiving channels of different widths. The invention proposes a channel detection method which carries out a first scan of the frequency range in order to locate all the carrier frequencies. The measurements are saved. Then an analysis of the saved measurements can determine whether it comes from a satellite or FM source, only the data corresponding to satellite sources are kept.

  • Patent number: 8045755
Abstract: This invention relates to a method to select, in an input image, pixels that can be watermarked by replacing their colour by a metameric colour. It comprises the following steps: correct the input image by applying a predetermined gamma law, convert the input image into a ‘metameric’ image in which the colours of the input image pixels are replaced by metameric colours, simulate the capture of the input image and of the metameric image by a camcorder in order to generate respectively a captured input image and a captured metameric image, determine, in a colour space and for each pixel of the input image, the distance between the colour of said pixel in the captured input image and in the captured metameric image, and select the pixels of the input image for which the distance is greater than a threshold. The invention also concerns a watermarking method based on metamerism.

  • Patent number: 8028223
Abstract: Disclosed is a transmission device which transmits a systematic code obtained by adding parity bits to information bits. When the code rate of the systematic code is a value in a specific range determined by the decoding characteristic in a case where dummy bits are not inserted, a dummy bit insertion portion inserts dummy bits into the information bits and shifts the decoding characteristic, so that the code rate assumes a value outside a specific range determined by the decoding characteristic after shifting. An encoding portion performs systematic encoding of the information bits into which the dummy bits are inserted, and deletes the dummy bits from the results of the encoding to generate a systematic code, and a rate matching portion, performs rate matching such that the size of the systematic code is equal to a size determined by the physical channel transmission rate, and transmits the systematic code.

  • Patent number: 8010049
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sub band notification method and apparatus in which a terminal notifies a base station of an optimum sub band that is determined based on radio link quality of a plurality of sub bands. The terminal apparatus measures the radio link quality of a current sub band that is currently assigned to it, and the radio link quality of the sub bands on both sides of the current sub band, compares the radio link quality of each sub band, then generates sub-band-change-request data that specifies that the optimum sub band is the sub band having a higher frequency than the current sub band, or the sub band having a lower frequency, and transmits that sub-band-change-request data to the base station.
