Abstract: A process is disclosed for evaluating a measuring device comprising a capacitor (CM), with stages for charging the capacitor (CM) over an initial charging period (tk1, tk2) and for determining the capacitance charge as an initial measured value (tml). To determine a measuring condition that changes a normal state of the capacitance, e.g., moist as opposed to dry surroundings for the measuring cell, the process exhibits the following additional steps: charging the capacitance (CM) over a second charging period (tk2), which differs from the first charging period (tk1); determining the charge of the capacitance (CM) as a second measured value (tm2); and comparing the first and second measured values (tk1, tk2) to establish the comparative result.

Abstract: An optical device for viewing an object at a range of working distances. The device comprises a slender tube of a certain length and having a distal end and a proximal end. The device farther comprises an imaging system disposed at the distal end and having a wide viewing angle. The device also comprises a telescopic system associated with the proximal end and having a narrow viewing angle. The imaging system is designed to form an image of the object at an image plane located on the device's optical axis and within the tube closer to the distal end than to the proximal end. The telescopic system is designed to enable viewing of the image of the object. The device is especially adapted to function as an endoscope in medical applications and may be disposable.

Abstract: A digital imaging system is described that facilitates the location of anchors or targets in images of a scene. In one aspect, the digital imaging system makes use of differences as between the properties of the surfaces of the targets and the properties of the surfaces of the objects that are to be mensurated, reconstructed, etc., to facilitate providing uniform illumination of the targets when recording a set of images of the scene, thereby reducing noise that may arise in connection with determining the locations of the targets if they were illuminated by structured illumination, while contemporaneously providing that the objects can be illuminated by structured illumination when the images are recorded. In this aspect, the digital imaging system can use the positions of the targets in the images to relate a local coordinate system associated with the image set to a global coordinate system.

Abstract: A reflective LCD has a plurality of pixels formed in rows and columns in a matrix. Among the pixels, pixels A and B are arranged adjacent to each other in the same column. A connection line is arranged over the two pixels A and B arranged adjacent to each other in the same column. A first end of the connection line is connected to a capacitor electrode contact of a storage capacitor formed in the pixel A and to a reflective pixel electrode formed in the pixel A. A second end of the connection line is extended over a gate line for the pixel A with an insulating film among functional films being between the connection line and the gate line and is connected to a source electrode (or drain electrode) of a switching element formed in the pixel B.
Abstract: Agile frequency converter and method, IF-RF level exchange process, and notch filtering techniques. System noise and spurious levels generated by channel frequency conversion is reduced in applications requiring broadband combining of frequency converters to form multichannel composite signal. Converter employs two-stage frequency conversion process, with gain exchange system using variable pre-mixer gain and variable post-mixer attenuation to maintain constant RF output signal power level. For those few conversion frequencies where distortion component(s) cannot be filtered without degrading desired signal, IF-RF level exchange is optimized for meeting the carrier-to-distortion (C/D) ratio specifications at slight expense of noise level for that channel only, while still meeting aggregate combined carrier-to-noise (C/N) specification requirements.
