  • Patent number: 6942002
Abstract: In order to enclose selected areas of a property from viewing by strangers, a structure is provided employing canisters with telescoping members. Screen rolls are provided which can be strung between the telescoping members when they are raised to a height desired by the user to screen an area from strangers to the owners of the property. The telescoping members may be driven between raised and lowered positions by a motor or a hand crank. In one embodiment, the structure is associated with a deck which may extend from a house, in which case the canisters may be secured to the deck floor or legs of the deck. In the alternative, the canisters may be buried full depth in the ground and the telescoping members rise out of the ground to support the screens.

  • Patent number: 6941606
Abstract: A sheet and web cleaner has a pair of substantially identical units in facing relation, providing a path for transporting a sheet or web therebetween. Each unit includes a suction hood with an inlet slot. A pair of channels adjacent and parallel thereto have a pressurized air ionizing bar which discharges ionized air at high velocity onto a moving sheet or web. A faceplate covers the channels and the inlet slot and has a tapered central elongate inlet opening which overlies the inlet slot. Elongate air discharge openings overly each of the channels adjacent the inlet opening. A plurality of spaced ridges are disposed on a side of the faceplate proximate the sheet or web oriented relative to a direction of travel of the sheet or web from a travel direction towards respective edges of the sheet or web. Spaces between the ridges communicate with the inlet and discharge openings.

  • Patent number: 6940611
Abstract: Determining surface topology of a portion (26) of a three-dimensional structure is provided. An array of incident light beams (36) passing through a focusing optics (42) and a probing face is shone on said portion. The focusing optics defines one or more focal planes forward the probing face in a position which can be changed (72) by the focusing optics. The beams generate illuminated spots (52) on the structure and the intensity of returning light rays propagating in an optical path opposite to that of the incident light rays is measured (60) at various positions of the focal plane(s). By determining spot-specific positions yielding a maximum intensity of the returned light beams, data is generated which is representative of said topology. Measurement of teeth. Light beams by grating of matrix of pinholes, micro lens array. Simultaneous imaging from three angles. Quicker with three different light components.

  • Patent number: 6935090
Abstract: The filling wedge (4) with its preferably concave wedge surfaces (12, 12?) is provided with feed channels (5) and preferably with a heating device (13) for heating up the wedge surfaces. To prevent heat-sensitive filling material from being heated up when it is passed through the filling wedge, arranged between the feed channels and the wedge surfaces is a means reducing the heat transfer, preferably in the form of a respective cooling channel (8, 8?). Consequently, a thermal separation is achieved in the filling wedge between the feed channels and the wedge surfaces, which makes it possible to work with high operating temperatures for the capsule shell material. Such high temperatures are required, for example, in the case of capsule shells of thermoplastic starch.

  • Patent number: 6934731
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are disclosed for digital synthesis of signals having a frequency which is a rational factor n/m times an existing reference or clock frequency, wherein n and m may be large relatively prime integers. The invention provides for the use of a periodic sequence generator having up to N taps which are connected to a cascade of digital commutating multiplexers. The periodic sequence generator and the commutating multiplexers have periodicities fi that are determined by programmable address counters and the choice of N. The resultant signal at the output of the last commutator stage has a spectral frequency component at a desired frequency which is an algebraic sum of the frequencies fi (each taken with either positive or negative signs). One aspect of the invention provides for the use of weighted linear combination of commutator output lines, thereby further aiding in improving its spectral purity performance.

  • Patent number: 6934301
Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting bursty, packetized data traffic from a wide bandwidth network to a constant, average rate traffic on a payload network having a narrower bandwidth is disclosed. The method includes converting a packet burst received from the wide bandwidth network to a serial stream having first and second pluralities of bytes, the second plurality of bytes having only idle bytes; substituting a place keeping flag for said second plurality of bytes thereby providing a reduced data; encapsulating the reduced data in a second packet; and providing the second packet to the narrower bandwidth network at a constant, average traffic rate. The method also includes converting the second packet received from the narrower bandwidth network to a second serial stream; substituting a plurality of idle bytes for the place keeping flags; converting the second serial stream and substituted idle bytes to a third packet; and providing the third packet to the wide bandwidth network.
