  • Patent number: 6832237
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of utilizing an Internet terminal coupled to the world wide web to interface with an existing proprietary data base management system through a user interface which permits access to an application service by presentation of one of a plurality of display pages which differ from one another only in resolution. The use of one of a plurality of nearly identical display pages offers a highly efficient way of optimizing the user interface from one work station to another.

  • Patent number: 5342307
Abstract: The balloon of an angioplasty balloon catheter is prepared for insertion through a patient's cardiovascular system by a series of steps to create three or more folded wings or flaps. The wings are wrapped circumferentially to provide a minimized outer diameter when the balloon is in its deflated state.

  • Patent number: 5325944
Abstract: A system for effecting the braking of a vehicle. The system is intended to be used with a vehicle which has an axle coaxial with a wheel engaging the surface over which the vehicle travels and which is rotatable with that wheel. The braking system includes a closed hydraulic circuit and a pump in the circuit which has an impeller rotatable by the axle as the vehicle moves over the surface. The invention includes structure for selectively, and sequentially, increasing the restriction of flow through the hydraulic circuit so that, as flow is restricted, a back-pressure is induced in the pump to apply a drag to the axle in a measure commensurate to the amount the flow is restricted.

  • Patent number: 5323615
Abstract: A closed system for effecting cryogenic cooling. The system includes a cylinder which houses therewithin a piston disposed for reciprocation within the cylinder. The cylinder is in fluid communication with a closed reservoir. A conduit interconnects the reservoir to a first chamber defined at a first end of the cylinder. A branch passage diverges from the conduit to provide fluid communication between the conduit and a second chamber defined within the cylinder at a second end thereof. A first conduit segment is, thereby, defined between the intersection of the branch passage and the entrance of the conduit into the cylinder at the first end thereof, and a second conduit segment is defined between the intersection of the branch passage with the conduit and the entry of the conduit into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5322326
Abstract: An air bag type of passenger protector equipped in a vehicle. The passenger protector comprises a compressed gas supplying assembly and an air bag receiving assembly for receiving an air bag which is connected to the compressed gas supplying assembly by means of a power hose. The compressed gas supplying assembly comprises a compressed gas container, a movable weight, a hinged link, a hinged lever and a perforating pin. If there occurs a vehicle collision, the weight is reliably operated in response to a mechanical shock caused by the vehicle collision and this causes the hinged link and the hinged lever to be sequentially turned and in turn causes the perforating pin to be pushed so as to perforate a closed tip of the compressed gas container.

  • Patent number: 5313746
Abstract: A sanding appliance is described for supporting a sheet of sandpaper. The appliance includes a sanding pad with a flat lower sandpaper supporting surface of triangular outline. The pad is formed from sheet material which includes three edges defining the periphery of the sheet. The edges intersect at three points and a handle is connected to the pad for supporting and controlling the movement of the sander. The pad includes beveled surfaces at its edges which are inclined obliquely upward proceeding toward the center of the pad for supporting the edges of a sheet of sandpaper which are folded upwardly and centrally around the peripheral edges of the pad.
